There was a time when G.B. bestowed knighthood on war heroes and members of government who achieved prominence above and beyond the call of duty. Today they knight a has been drummer in an old rock band. It kind of reflects the decadence of the old quasi monarchy.

Well, The Beatles did add a bit to the national coffers.

That sort of thing has been done before.........ie Elton John. No biggie.

I remember somebody was once asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world. He responded, "Ringo wasn't the best drummer in The Beatles."

Is it all about the big bucks? Why did they award knighthood to one Beatle thirty years ago and the last one a couple of days ago? Is Prince Chuck calling the shots or are they all enjoying a snoot full of Irish whiskey in that prison they call Windsor Castle?

Exactly, besides PAUL actually played the drums on a number of Beatles songs.

For folks unfamiliar with actual talent like Paul McCartney and Pete Townsend and band "image," for example, check out Pete's demo tapes referred to as Lifehouse. They are actually better than the studio recordings with the exception of the bass. In theory both The Beatles and The Who could have been trios.

There's a line from the old James Bond movie "Goldfinger" when Bond suggests that Beatles music is best listened to with earplugs.
