Righties: Is this justified?

How is this a story just for those on the right to be outraged about?

Anybody can be outraged about it, and should be, but I directed the question to the right because they're always the ones talking about law and order and going on about intrusive government and the Nanny State.

Frankly, I could have entitled the thread "Rick Perry Violates Women," just as they personalize everything the Obama administration does.

You've emulated the Blamer-in-Chief very well. :clap2:

This happens every day at airports throughout the United States to the Flying Public mauled by TSA but yet there is no outrage from the Left about theses searches.
Both kinds are illegal and the offenders should be charge with a crime

I am of the opinion that millimeter wave scanner searches should not be legal until every Congressman, Senator, Justice of the Supreme Court, and President who approves of these devices posts the millimeter wave scanner posts photographs of not only themselves, but also those of their spouses and children, online.

.

why? the people seeing the pictures don't even see the folk going through the scanners. there's no correlation.

and do you know what the pics look like?

you're being silly.

you also have the right to go through security instead of the scanner...

your call.

That was a body cavity search? Looked like she felt the "folds of flesh" where a druggie would hide drugs. The Trooper even called a Female Trooper in to do it. Good luck with any Lawsuit there.

There are no "different standards" for the TSA. Either you have the 4th Amendment or you don't. Either there is Reasonable Suspicion, Probable Cause, or there isn't.

Buying a ticket and getting on a plane is NOT PC or RS. Seems you've forgotten about "innocent until proven guilty" haven't you?

again, not justified in public... there was no exigent circumstances and no basis for the search.

and if you actually read the article, you'll see that the officers had no policy regarding such searches... BECAUSE THEY'RE INAPPROPRIATE.

why are you defending this?

i'm curious.
"Exigent Circumstances"? That means "emergency" Jill. That allows L.E. to enter a building without a Warrant.

How the fuck does that apply here? Thank goodness you're not a Lawyer!

As I've already stated, the Trooper smelled Marijuana, THAT gave him AT LEAST Reasonable Suspicion. He called a Female Trooper in to search to woman (good call)

And you know what? There WAS NO Body Cavity search! Those are done at a Medical Facility! Or at least at a Booking or a Correctional Facility.

And guess what? Because there's no policy concerning searches, he didn't violate any policy! It looks like he followed the training he received at the Academy and during his OJT!

Looks to me like the Trooper (Male AND Female) did their jobs correctly!

Again, good luck with any Lawsuit there because as a Juror, I'd find the Troopers Not Guilty, of ANYTHING!

So...near the end of that video when one of the women said she'd had a finger "up my ass and -------" she was lying?

Does it happen where other passengers can watch?

Two women were subjected to a body cavity search right beside the highway in Rick Perry's Texas.

Not surprisingly, they've filed a lawsuit.

What do you true-Blue, law and order types have to say about it? Justified, or an unjustified outrage?

According to the article the Trooper smelled Marijuana which gave her Reasonable Suspicion to search her and the area under her control.

Now when the TSA reaches down your pants looking for Al Qaida before you get on a plane, THAT'S an illegal search, a violation of your 4th Amendment rights. Why? Because there's no Reasonable Suspicion or Probable Cause.

No, the trooper SAID he smelled marijuana, which isn't exactly the same thing. Making up an excuse for a search is just about standard procedure. Let me give you a for instance involving the DPS and a different kind of search.

One stopped me one out near Midland, TX. I was going eastbound at about 70 mph and he was going westbound at about the same speed. He flipped over and stopped me for "reasonable suspicion" safety check. Know what his "reasonable suspicion" was? He claimed he spotted a bolt missing from the right, rear trailer mudflap bracket!

To see that while going the other way at a combined closing speed of 140 mph is either pretty damn good eye site or a totally bogus excuse to stop me and try to find something to write a ticket for. (He failed)

What do you think?

I think you expect us to just lap up your bogus, bullshit fairy tale.

Most drama queens would be. What proof does she have? ...unfounded accusation.

I know exactly what the pictures look like. And if you think the photos are private, then you are very gullible. There have been cases of photos being leaked, and there have been cases of TSA agents singling out attractive women for scanning.

Bet you didn't know your photo was saved on someone's computer. You are entrusting your privacy to low-skilled workers.

Don't be so quick to surrender your rights.

I want our politicians families to be subjected to the same thing they expect the sheep to tolerate. We'd find out real quick who the fucking hypocrites are.

In other words, if "Obama's" TSA does it.....bad.

If "Rick Perry's" DPS does it....good?

Both are bad.

Ever since 9/11, our country has lost its mind. It's now okay to torture. It's now okay to wiretap without a warrant. It's now okay to technologically strip search you for the amusement of troglodytes, and to finger your ass for tossing a cigarette out your car window. The fourth amendment is very nearly repealed.

Our country is becoming more and more militarized. This is a very, very, very bad trend.

I absolutely agree, but there are a good many who accept those intrusions for the sake of feeling "safe" from whatever the perceived threat is today.

Righties: Is this justified?

No, but it is Texas. I lived there for 12 years. I would rather be dragged across burning coals before ever going back. It's the most backward, redneck place in America and the police authorities are the worst I've seen anywhere.

The fucking cop says he smells marijuana? She should have told him when she rolled down her window for him she smelled beer! There was absolutely no probable cause for what they did to these women. If it had been me (and when I lived in Houston I had a couple of delightful encounters with the local police over NOTHING....they stop everybody for anything....the monthly quota thing in Texas is very high) I would have handed them my DL and asked for an escort to the closest police station where I would have called my attorney.

One more thing comes to mind: At least according to that video, the cops never told those women they could decline the search, did they?

There are large chunks edited out of the video for the sake of brevity.

The driver concented to the search at 2:20 in the video. She has no case.

If she has an attorney who has taken her case, then obviously he/she knows that it was consent given under extreme duress, as in believing if she did not consent she would be arrested. I also suspect this attorney has taken the case on contingency. If so, there's a pot of money to be had. She's got a very good case.

The driver consented to the search at 2:20 in the video. She has no case. She should have only rolled the window down an inch to slip her license through. When asked to get out, she should have locked the car & said "I do not consent to any searches".

You inhaled to much. She consented, there is no case. I bet you get hosed at every police encounter because you are clueless.

Gotta make sure they weren't drug mules. God bless Texas.

From this righty, the incident should be explored and the lawsuit will facilitate that process.

Seems everything has already been 'explored' doncha think?
