Real expectations:

The House. The Dems lose their majority. By how much is the question. I doubt it will be as much as a hundred seats. 65 to 75 seems do-able. It hardly matters though provided the GOP assumes the actual majority.

The Senate. The Dems may retain their majority, but just barely. Indeed, it is an outside shot that the Dems could even lose their majority. That won't change things too much. It does matter, but it is not AS crucial as taking back at least one of the two houses.
It COULD make a difference if the GOP could take the majority, for in that event, full control of legislative agenda in BOTH houses would be in the hands of the GOP. And it also matters in the Senate because there could be some more SCOTUS openings, and it would be a wonderful thing if the liberal President got stymied from imposing too much of his liberal activism on the Court via his selection process.

The Legislative Agenda: Practically speaking, even if the GOP took the majorities in both houses of Congress, since the President has the power of the VETO, the GOP could accomplish very little (since it is virtually certain that even a GOP majority will not be of the necessary size to override vetoes). However, the President, again as a purely practical matter, cannot veto everything. And there would be some control finally assumed by the newly empowered conservative element of the GOP to begin the arduous task of reigning in spending. (As an aside, how ABOUT that Gov. Christie in New Jersey! I say BRAVO to him!) And finally, in terms of the legislative agenda, the power of INVESTIGATION would take a new and important turn. I would LOVE to see Congress start to call the President's cabinet in and begin the grilling on a wide array of matters related to the President's agenda. Talk about transparency. We'd finally get some from this President.

There's going to be a ballance of power. The Republicans will be the majority in Congress. Obama will be a lame dick president.

This is what's needed to stop Obama's socialist agenda. Within two years Obama has made a mess of things. Obama has increased the deficit more in his two years than Bush did in his eight years. The Democrats are so stupid that they don't realize the ramification of such a high deficit. It is going to further jeopardize our economy and our national security.

I wonder if liberals will ever learn that socialism doesn't work? They won't, because they are bent on running peoples lives and controlling the masses through government is their ultimate goal.

I've heard words like "drubbing", "bloodbath", "wiped out", "destroyed", "decimated", "crying in their defeat" and so on when referring to what will happen to the Democrats after the November 2nd election....but I am seeing little or no specifics? Generalizations are cheap....but I'd like some Righties (especially those like LibocalypseNow, Willow Tree, The T, bigrebnc1775, The Rabbi, Lonestar_Logic, and USArmyRetired) to clarify what they consider a win for their side. What constitutes a drubbing? What constitutes a bloodbath? and so on and so forth....

Maybe even step up and state who's gonna win what specific races.....

My expectations? Republicans will win the house. Probably not the Senate but at any rate the totalitarian rule will be broken. We will have a little more balance and obie wan won't know how to act. It will be fun to watch.

The 2011 tax increase was already levied by Bush!
Therefore, a LAW would be needed to be passed to stop the Bush tax increases from kicking in.
