Not to derail Lone's thread.........but I'm watching the VP on Face The Nation.

He's commenting on how clueless Mitt Romney is.

Yet the first words out of his mouth were "I can't even figure out who the Democrat nominee is.......".

I like Rick's energy. He ran a campaign on guts and hard work, not multi-millions from the 1%'ers, who expect that their tax rates will be protected.

Looks like Rick is setting himself up as the next in-line for 2016 or 2020.

If you support Santorum you're either clueless or a massive government bat-shit crazy war pushing bigot... No I'm not fucking around and I would tell anyone to their face this, very politely, and even give them exact reasons on why.

The Republican party fell apart with Bush/McCain/Palin, oddly if Mitt can’t beat Obama (prolly won’t) I believe the Republican party is dead.

The issue with the Republican party is they are the Democrat party but have for years sold this idea that they are conservatives through words. Now the “words” are getting to a point of crazy, like outlawing porn or wanting a cold war with Cuba as well as killing ALL dictators around the world (All Santorum positions). Santorum is a big spending Government program starting politician, just going off his record… Santorum is NOT conservative even slightly, he uses Religion to conceal the fact that he is vastly Progressive, as is Newt and Mitt.

Yes Santorum gets the crazy religious vote who cares nothing about small Government as long as you talk about teaching God in school, but that group of people has been shrinking while the group that will either sit out or vote against you has quadrupled in size. I have talked to many indys and well as Dems that would consider or just outright vote for the ultimate conservative Ron Paul, the polar opposite to an Obama/Dem... These same people FREAK OUT and would 10000% vote Obama, get their family, friends and guy walking down the street to vote against Santorum.

Does anyone wonder why Santorum is doing so well in the primary yet polls EPIC HUGE OMFGZ far behind Obama in every single meaningful poll out there? No polls are not the end all be all, but holy shit if you were a betting man would you waste it on Santorum lol?

I think everyone can see what the media can do to someone when they decide to focus on them.

I won't support Obama because he's incompetant. He doesn't deserve the job and he's doing a shitty job of it. Has nothing to do with his race, which is where I think you are going here....

I won't support Romney because he's a tool. And a Mormon. NOt bigotry as I explained many times. Stupid beliefs don't become less stupid because you slap vestments on them and call them religion. Believing in Nephites is as stupid as believing in Santa Claus.

But I can live with four more years of Obama, maybe will give the GOP a chance to get its head out of its collective ass..

More likely, though, the GOP will just blame Romney for their loss and do no interspection of how they are losing middle America...

Obama is very close to Clinton ideologically. Just ask Bill himself. Those who supported Clinton have absolutely no trouble supporting Obama.

BTW.....Obama is extremely competent. You should love the guy.

Maybe it was Newt and the Republican Congress that made Clinton look good. My metric was the Budget and national Debt. When Bush cut taxes for the wealthy, the economy turned to shit. One party rule is a disaster, either party. IMHO whichever party implements something like Simpson-Bowles will save the US.

You know the last time we had a surplus? I don't mean a fake Clinton Surplus where you apply overpayments to Social Security to underpayments in General Fund, which is like using pension funds to fund operations. I mean an Honest to C'thulhu Surplus.

It was 1969. Space program pissing away billions, expensive war in Vietnam, new "Great Society" programs putting everyone on welfare who didn't feel like working any more.

And we still posted surpluses? Why?

Because we were still posting Trade Surpluses...

the last time we posted a trade surplus was 1976. At that time, the national debt for the first 200 years of our existence, including wars, huge interstate highway projects, etc, etc was all of 600 billion.

Then we started posting trade deficits. By the end of Jimmy Carter's term, it was 1 TRILLION. by the end of Reagan's term it was 3 trillion, and five trillion at the end of Bush-41's term. Clinton, despite his fakey surpluses, got it up to 7 trillion, and Bush-43 got it up to 10 trillion. Obama's run it up to 16 trillion.

But the reality is, what we are looking at is money leaving out of the country through trade, deindustrialization, at a rate of half a trillion a year every year in adjusted dollars since the 1970's.

And both parties are drinking the Free Trade Koolaid.

If you are talking to people who like Ron Paul, you need to spend less time in the booby-hatch.

Obama is leading Romney by an average of 4.7% in the polls RCP tracks. He's leading Santorum by 8% by average. 3.3% is not that signifigant a difference. (Incidently Ron CrazyPerson also trails Obama by 8% on average..)

Incidently, I don't think Santorum can beat Obama at this point, either. I think the GOP has to do a LOT more work on the basic demographics to get back people they've lost - hispanics, working folks, women.
