Rick Perry has an economic plan. He wants the federal government to spend less money, and he wants huge tax cuts. Oh, and a balanced budget by 2020. Here's the rub: Perry's plan would drastically reduce the amount of money the government collects in taxes. Link to article

Aw, the naysayers cast off the winning strategy with "Oh, and a balanced budget by 2020." Gee, a balanced budget would destroy Obama's spendthrift legacy. Awwwwwwwwww

The history is that lower, simpler taxes and a more stable regulatory environment induce people to start or expand businesses and generate much more economic activity. I think the effects of Perry's plan are grossly underestimated.

Most GOP tax plans make the budget situation worse, and this one is no exception.

Ofcourse you do, youve been championing that fucking weasel since before he announced he was running, before he even had a platform, and before he announced this economic plan. You championed him based off of his record of welcoming illeagal immigration, of treating non citizens better then citizens, of creating minimum wage service based jobs, of cronyism and corruption, and his desire to strip people of civil liberties through tort reform.

Rick Perry cant balance anything, he is such a fucking moron he is lucky to speak in complete sentences without his corporate sponsership telling him what to say. His spot in the limelight continues simply because of his absense from it.

A vote for Rick Perry is a vote for big government, corruption, cronyism, and frankly a vote for tyranny. Only dumb morons with lots of money support a dipshit like that.

Soon you will realize Rabbi that supporting Rick Perry only causes yourself embarassment.

Anyone in the proper position CAN cut the spending... the key is WILL they?? I think whatever leader or party has a lot to prove behind words... and IMHO it can not be some piddly shit cuts... this is going to have to be substantial, if not massive.... with full explanations behind why things MUST be cut that have no business being in government, and also holding the govt up to extreme accountability... stopping payment on contracts that are not being fulfilled, etc

Perry's deficit in Texas was first wiped out by the stimulus and now it back to being daunting..again.

If he can't do it in Texas..a state with big oil reserves..what makes anyone think he can do it in the good ole USA?

Has the budget been worse or better with Democrats in control of Congress?

Every president has the power to veto any bill that is unconstitutional. Most of the spending we see today is unconstitutional. The solution is simple, its just a matter of getting a candidate in office that wants to be in office for one reason and one reason only. To restore the relevancy of the constitution and the rule of law.

I only know of one guy like that.

The deficit was caused by GOP spending.

The deficit was caused by both GOP AND DEM spending... don't look like an idiot with your hyperpartisan bullshit

When Bush sat his ass in the President's seat..he was faced with a daunting Surplus..chief. Got it?

Myth.... total government expenditure was still higher than what was taken in... debt was still higher each and every year...

Now.. Did Clinton and the REP congress do better than most?? Yep.... but the deficit has been a result of both GOP and DEM spending... and don't sit there and pretend that it is not

The president can veto any bill for any reason. I guess you ought to find out what the Constitution says before you support it.
Ron Paul isn't getting elected. Get over it.

I have it on good authority that spending money we don't have, running up the deficit and paying as much on interest as we do on goods and services makes the budget situation worse, NYCarbineer. The way to remedy that is to cut down on government spending. The present administration has shown its willingness to spend money we don't have, run up the deficit, and pay more on interest than we do on goods and services. It's a lose-lose situation there.

Perry can and will lower spending, and his budget plan pays the deficit off in 2020.

Obama promises to keep spending money like a drunken sailor as he did until the people of the USA threw some high-rolling spenders on the left of the aisle out in 2010.

Unfortunately, the best we can hope for is to give the Republicans a 2/3rds House of Representatives and a majority in the Senate.

Otherwise, there could be trouble.

Obama got our stock market downgraded by trying to do in too many Republican-supporting businesses like the oil industry. He kicked America's ass in the Gulf of Mexico, and now, Cuba and China are vying to drill 40 miles off the coast of Florida.

Obama is such a nice guy to communist countries. And he gave the Middle East a little present too when he raised our gas prices by 250%.

If only he'd care for the country who elected him President.

But he won't.

The deficit was caused by GOP spending.
You mean when Nancy and Harry ran the House and Senate budgets over the rainbow while Bush was President? Sorry, that one doesn't stick, Mr. Sallow, but nice try. A series of Democratic-controlled Senates have continued the deficit spending in a big way. They have the final say, and now you'd like to pin Harry Reid's sins on the GOP?

Ain't gonna happen in intelligent circles who know Congress, particularly the Senate, has the final say in spending.

What did they put in your koolaid this week? Maybe it's the snowstorm you had in NYC. Hot toddies. That's it. :D

Here's Rick Perry's economic plan in Texas:

Massive deficits

Texas needs federal stimulus to cover MOST (but not all) of it's earlier deficits

Texas debt grows faster than US debt

Let's hear it for Perry! Let him do for the nation what he has done for Texas!!

Better yet, let's hear a quote from the link YOU PROVIDED:

Texas doesn't appear to be overextended. In a May report, Standard & Poor's gave the state an AA+ rating, citing its outperforming economy, strong cash management and constitutional limits on debt.

Thanks for providing, Inthemiddle. :D

I agree. Thanks for a balanced view on this very talented, gifted and able governor, Rick Perry, The Rabbi.
