OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A Richmond man is facing 32 years to life in prison for the stabbing death of his pregnant girlfriend.

An Alameda County Superior Court jury found 34-year-old Aaron Ashley guilty Thursday of two counts of second-degree murder in the September 2008 death of 24-year-old Latrice Grayson and her 8-month-old fetus.

Prosecutors had asked jurors to find Ashley guilty of first-degree murder, arguing he planned to kill his girlfriend because she wouldn't abort the pregnancy or give the child for adoption.

But the defense said Ashley acted in a moment of passion after Grayson told him the fetus wasn't his.

Ashley, a postal worker who is married with three children, had initially denied stabbing Grayson, but later acknowledged he attacked her.

That's pretty logical. Can't get girfriend to abort baby or give it up for adoption, so perform your own abortion by killing the mother.

Why is abortion not considered murdered, but killing a pregnant woman counts as two murders?

Because it was against her consent, I would think.

So if the woman had given her consent to the boyfriend to kill her and the 8 month old fetus, it would have been legal? huh?

No. Then her allowing him to kill her and her child would have been considered suicide. Assisted suicide is against the law too.

If she had gone to an abortion clinic and had a late-term abortion in a state that allowed this procedure, that would be legal, but because she didn't give permission, now it's murder. It's not very consistent. "The law is an ass."

You should look up the stats of late term abortions (just so you no, I don't agree with them outside of exstenuating circumstances). Most women that get past the 2nd month, don't do so.
