Revisiting The Congressional Resolution On Iraq

None-the-less, America is a signatory to the UN charter.

As for those documents yuo refer to, their veracity is questionable at best. And given the sentiment of a majority of US citizens towards the occupation of Iraq (the war actually ended with Chimpy's "Mission Accomplished" speech in 2003), the Administration would have them front and center to try and bolster their sagging poll numbers. Nice try though.

Which documents? The War Resolution Act? The Congressional Resolution on Iraq? The Constitution?

Again, the Congress could NOT even if it wanted to, allow any UN act, resolution, etc. become a higher law than the Constitution. To do so, would deny the logic that underlies the government.

Katianne,

Please read:

The United States Constitution, Article 6, b: This Constitution... and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land...

Kathianne,

What is it about the above that you don't understand? Can you not see where it says, "and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land..."

Junior violated his oath to office and the Supreme Law of our Land.

Yes, I having a passing familiarity with it. I guess you are having a problem with 'higher law.' In any case, we both must note that the Congressional action resulted in Presidential directives, which led to where we are.

GunnyL,

July 17-18 1990 Saddam accuses Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates of flooding the international oil market and driving prices down, thus costing Iraq $14 billion in lost oil revenue. He also accuses Kuwait of stealing $2.4 billion in Iraq oil from wells in the Rumalia oil field along the disputed border between the two countries.

Earlier Kuwait rejects Iraqi claims to the island of Bubiyan and Warbah at the head of the Arab Persian Gulf; control of these islands would give Iraq easy access to the sea.

July 25 U.S. ambassador to Iraq April Glaspie meets with Saddam and explains, "We have no opinion on the Arab-Arab conflicts, like your border disagreement with Kuwait...

Cheney and Bush Sr lied by pretending the Glaspie Saddam meeting never took place, because of that to many people died anunnecessary death.

Along comes Junior. Cheney and Junior lied our soldiers died.

First of all, Saddam was not in the habit of requesting the US's permission to do anything.

Second, accusations uncorroborated by fact/evidence don't mean a damned thing except another fishing expedition to accuse Republicans of wrongdoing.

ANd you keep saying Bush and Cheney lied; however, you STILL have not presented any argument based on fact. Speaking of parrots ......
