Return of Mass Layoffs a Grim Sign for U.S. Workers

The right has screwed us big time.

They want our economy to fail.

Party over country at every turn

Uncertanties? Ohh you mean the fear mongering of the right is working?

Potatoes, potatoes.

 In case you haven't noticed, fear mongering is coming from both sides of the aisle, but go ahead and place the blame squarely on the Right if it helps you sleep at night. But back to my point, the Democrats had the power for at least a couple years and they did nothing. Shame on them.

Yep and the repubs had total power for what 6 years?

Be partisan if you want, but I blame both sides, but the hypocirsy of the right is louder than that of the left.
And I do believe they are intentionally holding back things just to hurt the other side with no regard for what is best for America.

 Uh, okay. The Democrats took control of Congress in 2007, but whatever. I would think most people would know by now that I'm neither conservative nor liberal, but I guess you didn't get the memo. Again, whatever helps you sleep at night. Obama (or Bush-III or whatever you want to call him) is a total disaster. That's a given. Let's hope America chooses wisely next time. And the mess we're in today can be fixed by drastically cutting spending, but somehow there are members on the Left and some on the Right who want to raise taxes in a down economy. :cuckoo:

It appears that the longer we go on there are less and less jobs, and our population is growing, we are going to have alot of angry people with no jobs...

And socialism is bad and this is the result of capitalism so what to do?
Let them eat Twinkies?
Most of the cacao(Theobroma cacao - chocolate) plant fields are currently being converted for biofuel too. You won't be able to afford a Twinkie. Vanilla, as you likely didn't know, is a hand pollinated and hand harvested bean from an orchid. You won't be able to afford that either. Your masters, on the other hand, will. They'll save you some rice and wheat.

Well...trusted economist have been saying all year that August/September was going to be a defining moment for 2011. Most believing if there is going to be a real second dip - this is when it will happen.

P.S. - by trusted economist I absolutely do not mean the talking heads on TV news.

What capitalism is this the result of?

Offshoring mostly and the global wage competition.
And a bit of the concept of bigger is better. Mergers and aquisitions.

However look at the facts and figures, under which control was the most of our debt accumulated while they preached less spending and less government?

Home Depot Co-Founder: Obama Is Choking Recovery - Investors.com

Bernie Marcus co-founded Home Depot (HD) in 1978 and brought it public in 1981 as the U.S. was suffering from the worst recession and unemployment in 40 years. The company thrived, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and redefining home improvement retailing.

But Marcus says Home Depot "would never have succeeded" if it launched today due to onerous regulation. He recently helped launch the Job Creators Alliance, a Dallas-based nonprofit of CEOs and entrepreneurs dedicated to preserving the free enterprise system. IBD recently spoke to him about jobs and the economy.

IBD: What's the single biggest impediment to job growth today?

Marcus: The U.S. government. Having built a small business into a big one, I can tell you that today the impediments that the government imposes are impossible to deal with. Home Depot would never have succeeded if we'd tried to start it today. Every day you see rules and regulations from a group of Washington bureaucrats who know nothing about running a business. And I mean every day. It's become stifling..........

"I’m afraid to do anything in the current political environment in the United States. You watch television and see what’s going on, on this debt ceiling issue. But everybody is so political, so focused on holding their job for the next year that the discussion in Washington is nauseating. And I’m saying it bluntly, that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business, and progress and job creation in my lifetime. And I can prove it and I could spend the next 3 hours giving you examples of all of us in this market place that are frightened to death about all the new regulations, our healthcare costs escalate, regulations coming from left and right. Well, my customers and the companies that provide the vitality for the hospitality and restaurant industry, in the United States of America, they are frightened of this administration. And until we change the tempo and the conversation from Washington, it’s not going to change. I suspect it's not the regulations he enacted (whatever they might be) but the ones they fear he will enact (whatever they might be).

Meanwhile, while they're sitting around waiting, they're enjoying their lavish lifestyles while American workers suffer.

Home Depots only real competitor Lowes has had a slow spring sales season too.
It is because of the slow/no real job growth. Less money for people to spend. Especially on home const and repair, food and such come first.

You keep going after Bush and try to leave Obama out of it because you're partisan which is fine with me. I get that. But you fail to see the big picture. Congress is ultimately to blame. The President will sometimes sign a budget even though Congress loads it down with crap just so they can get their programs passed. They also face a huge political blowback if a budget is not passed (kind of like what we've seen for about 3 years now which is dereliction of duty IMO).

Look at Congress over the years and see who added the most debt. It's an easy and useful exercise. Let us know what you find.

Well there is Obamacare just for starters. Surely you are familiar with it. I could link to a copy if you wanted to read it in it's regulatory entirety, but I know you won't. Then there is simply all the stuff Obama talks about wanting to do that scares the shit out of business owners. See the two examples above, one a conservative and one a liberal. Look, I can point you down the path, but you have to decide to take it. By the way, I'm libertarian, not a right winger.

They got it the old fashioned way. They took the risk of building a company. They didn't do it for you, they did it for themselves. Why do you feel entitled to the fruit of their labor? Don't like it, come up with an idea and start your own business instead of merely working for someone 40 hours a week and enjoy your own lavish lifestyle that you earned.
