I posted this concern last year just after Andy Rooney of 60 minutes brought it to my attention. Screw the petition. Make up bumper stickers with your least favorite retailers name..

WAL MART SUCKS
ask me why

You want to see Christmas in their advertising? Wait till day after xmas and you will see the sale ads Christmas Clearance..

effectivly the retailers are saying..

"You stupid ass American morons,, jump through the hoop when WE tell you too,, spend your money on the overpriced crap that WE tell you to, and then force yourselves to come in and by more of this junk from us after Christmas cause WE told you to... AND YOU DO,,, BY THE MILLIONS, and then we make BILLION$$$$...."

The "American Family Association"? These people are bent so far right that they almost make James Dobson sound rational. The only "anti-Christian bias" in this country is in the minds of those who claim it exists.

If you want to do something about retailers and Christmas, why not take a real stand against the comercialization of Christmas? Instead of giving gifts this year, why not make a donation in the name of the recipient to a humanitarian organization or to Hurricane Katrina relief funds? That's the true spirit of giving and a truer rememberance of Jesus' message than giving some bauble that will be tossed aside after a short time. And it'll send a message that retailers are more certain to hear than some silly petition.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. - Matthew 25:34-36

When people remember the real message of Christmas, retailers will sit up and take notice. Especially when their cash registers are silent.

Are you sure that it's not the secularists who have tainted the true message of Christmas by turning it into a gift exchange? ( and you blame Christians for not trying to stop it? )

There's plenty of blame to go around old son, so I'm not going to waste time pointing fingers. But since Christmas DOES commemorate the birth of Christ, it seems that Christians of good conscience should be in the vanguard of those who want to reverse the commercialization of Christmas.

As I've stated before, I don't much care what the retailers do, but there is plenty of evidence coming out that those that ARE concerned, have reason to be:

US Post Office goes Politically Correct

No welcome at the officeAbout four hours ago - after the turkey carcass was put away and we sat around the dining table sipping hot coffee and finishing the pie crumbs off our plates - my mother riveted all attention on her as she related her experience with US Post Office.

As has been her custom for as long as I can remember, my mom prepares her Christmas cards over the Thanksgiving weekend in order to have them ready to mail the first week of December. She enjoys purchasing beautiful cards, writing notes, addressing them by hand and affixing whatever Christmas stamp the USPS issues that year. So she stops by her local US Post Office a few days ago then asks the man behind the counter for this year's Christmas stamps. He pulls out a sheet of something called Holiday Cookies. To know my mom is to know that she has never indulged in cutesy stuff. Every year she always selects the Christmas stamp that features a classic painting of Madonna and Child. She asks if they have any classic Christmas stamps and the man pulls out a couple of sheets of last year's Madonna and Child. Mom notices he doesn't seem happy and he says to her, "These are all I have and they'll be the last you ever see." Mom asks, "What do you mean?" He explains the USPS will not be issuing any more "religious" stamps.

Ever.

Mom is momentarily stunned. She then raises her eyebrows a bit and asks, "Are you allowed to say 'Merry Christmas' to us?"

The man's face falls and he lowers his voice in answer, "No. We can only say 'Happy Holidays,'" he tries to smile at her, "But if you say 'Merry Christmas' to me directly I will respond in kind."

WTF? Something so innocuous as a Christmas postage stamp has now very quietly given way to near meaningless "Holiday" fluff? Reading over the USPS Press Releases about the Cookie stamps and I am annoyed at the tortuous language used in an effort to avoid the dreaded "C" word

The season kicks off on Oct. 20 with the dedication of the 2005 holiday stamps, celebrating the child in everyone and evoking favorite memories from the simple pleasure of decorating cookies of the season. The stamps, featuring cookie-shaped gingerbread men, Santa Claus, snowmen and an angel, will be dedicated at a special ceremony in the Pillsbury Test Kitchens in Minneapolis. Anita Bizzotto, USPS Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, will be the dedicating official.

"What would the holidays be without cookies? These cookie stamps are a great way to share the joy of the season," Bizzotto said.

Geez, and what season would that be, eh?

Last year's Christmas (as well as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa) stamp is currently available, but if the employee at my mother's US Post Office is right, you won't be seeing any new issues.

I plan on checking this with my local Post Office tomorrow. I urge you, too, to take a few minutes and ask at your local PO.

You've wasted so much time pointing fingers that you don't have any left. Christians everywhere are trying to keep their religion safe from the onslaught of those determined to wipe it off the map. You may want to start working on your New Years resoutions early this year.

Listening to Michael Medved and John Gibson regarding the killing of Christmas in society. Gibson wrote a book that addresses that:

Funny thing, I've not been all that interested in this but I keep finding this stuff...Links at site:

The Holiday Tree

The Liberty Counsel sent this email recently about Boston’s recent capitulation to the lefties:

Today Boston’s Mayor and the Parks Commissioner reversed course under pressure from Liberty Counsel regarding the City’s annual Christmas tree. A Christmas tree has been donated by Nova Scotia for the past 34 years to honor Boston for providing help following the 1917 Haifax Explosion. This year the tree was renamed by City officials to the “Holiday Tree.” When the Nova Scotia donor learned that the tree was renamed, he was “hopping mad,” and stated that he should have “put it in the chipper.”

After learning of this incident, Liberty Counsel pressured City officials to reverse course and call the tree a Christmas tree. Last night I appeared on Hannity and Colmes to discuss this assault on Christmas. Today, the Mayor and the Parks Commissioner responded and now concede the tree will be called a Christmas tree.

Liberty Counsel’s Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign is designed to educate about the constitutionality of Christmas and to defend against threats to Christmas. When education does not resolve the matter, we will go to court.

On Monday I talked about the Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign on the Fox News Channel on the O’Reilly Factor; yesterday on Hannity and Colmes, and today with John Gibson. Today, Dr. Jerry Falwell also discussed the Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign on the O’Reilly Factor, and on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 and Paula Zahn Now .

Help spread our Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign by distributing our free legal memo. Churches can run our pre-designed ads in local newspapers and in their bulletins.

Write an email to [email protected] to thank the City of Boston for acknowledging Christmas. You can also participate in a poll by a local television station about naming the Christmas tree. At this time, 94% favor calling the tree a Christmas tree.

When we show up, by God’s grace, we win. Thank you for your prayers and support. Have a great Thanksgiving.

That didn’t take too long did it. Funny how these moonbats think “holiday” is a non-religious word. Checking out the history of the word you find this:

holiday: O.E. haligdæg, from halig “holy” + dæg “day;” in 14c. meaning both “religious festival” and “day of recreation,” but pronunciation and sense diverged 16c.
