Republicans Will Never Learn

Yes, by all means, stick to your guns and let the country fall off a financial cliff because you made a promise to an asshole.

Who the fuck is Grover Norquist that COngressmen should kiss his ring like Don Coreleon?

If the GOP doesn't do anything, tax increases go into effect automatically and there will be HUGE slashes in the defense budget. They aren't in a position to negotiate.

There are some radical rightists so deranged that they’ll take the military cuts just to stick it to the hated targeted social programs.

They actually fantasize about the entire economy collapsing, so they can ‘rebuild’ it in their own bizarre image.

Yup......and I'm sure somebody can sell that bullshit lie.

And yes......we wanted a business-friendly president like Romney just because we were fantasizing about forcing the economy to collapse.

FYI, the economy is already in our own image. It's the leftists that want to crash the system so they can shape it the way they want.

That is the entire point of the Clowar-Piven strategy that obama is following. Crash the system and build the worker's paradise out of the splinters.

It must be great these days to be a Democrat. They don't have to take a stand and they don't have to worry about what happens if they go back on their promises.

In 2010 it was easy to sign a tax pledge authored by Grover Norquist stating that you pledge never to raise taxes. Not signing it was like saying you just might and would assure that you won't get reelected. Signing it means you're trapped into a promise you just might not keep.

Do you see why it's so easy to be a Democrat as opposed to a Republican? Taking a stand and standing by your principles sometimes ends up biting you in the ass. Remember "Read My Lips"?

That was the mother of all broken promises.

It's amazing how something voters should hate has become a tool to bring down Republicans. The hardest thing a politician can do is have principles. Having principles means being trustworthy and that just isn't a positive aspect these days.

Well, thank you Grover.....you succeeded in painting the GOP into a corner. A corner that it looks like some of them want to get out of.

I have a solution for Republicans......stick to your guns and forget about what will happen if you do. You signed it.....live or die by it.

I understand why you believe this and I understand why you completely miss the point(s).

First of all it is not a principled position to accept the responsibility as a lawmaker and to abrogate that duty to an unelected ideologue simply to secure your job.

It is not a principled position to accept money, essentially a bribe, to vote based on a promise and not on the merits of any future bill.

It is also not principled to accept the money and later to renege on such a promise based on a fear that the bribe had less value than it did when it was signed.

FYI

prin·ci·pled: adjective, imbued with or having moral principles (often used in combination): high-principled.

There is nothing principled about the Senate minority under the leadership of McConnell and less than that in the House under the leadership of Eric 'The Weasel' Cantor and figurehead Boehner.

The congressional oath of office states that congress people take that oath free of any other obligations, and states that they must uphold the constitution.

Any congress person who has taken the Norquist oath is not qualified to be a congress person.

Because the Norquist pledge is in the form of an Oath, for them to renege on that oath means that they cannot be trusted to fulfill any oath - including their congressional oath.

They should be removed from office. Period!

Being glib is simply a defense mechanism Muddie!

Which part of principled do you ascribe to those who signed this pledge? FYI, a bribe is a bribe is a bribe - the threat of taking money away (the campagin contribution or SuperPAC support on TV and Radio is a bribe as any honest person knows) and is a bribe.

The US will be better off in the long run if the economy crashes sooner rather than later. We still have people who are willing to work. At some point, the concept of working for a living will be bred out of the public and we will truly be Greece.
