"PRINCETON, NJ -- Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats by 48% to 44% among registered voters in the latest update on Gallup's generic congressional ballot for the 2010 House elections, after trailing by six points in July and two points last month."

"Bottom Line

"Roughly a year before the 2010 midterm elections, Republicans seem well-positioned to win back some of their congressional losses in 2006 and 2008. Independents are increasingly coming to prefer the Republican candidate for Congress, and now favor the GOP by 22 points. Political conditions could still shift between now and Election Day to create a more favorable environment for Democratic candidates, but a Republican lead on the generic ballot among registered voters has been a sign of a strong Republican showing at the polls in the coming election."

Use gallup as many times as you want now. But such a poll will not make a difference come a month now, never mind 6 months down the road or a year.

It's a pretty good indication that you guys are the fringe element.

Its dicey to quote polls about generic candidates. Especially at the midterm. Unless the voters are incredibly ticked off, midterm elections are always about the local issues.

For the record I think the GOP will make some gains in 2010, a result I'd be happy with. I don't like/support one party rule. I also think Obama will walk to a win in 2012.
.

It's not my guys first off. Not even a year after Americans overwhelmingly voted in Democrats and gave Barack Obama the presidency, you're calling them the fringe? Are you batshit insane?

Tell me, in November of 2007, where was Barack Obama in all those nifty polls of yours for the Presidency? :eusa_whistle:

Obama hadn't a chance in hell until McCain voted for the stimulus. That's when the independents and a lot of Republicans dumped him.

And the lefties are fringe. And Obama is the fringest of them all. He campaigned on a platform that he was moderate. He lied. The people who voted for him, except for the fringe lunatics who wish he was even more of a Marxist than he is already, will not vote for him again.

Actually, even Fox News reported that McCain's numbers began to slip after the Palin/Couric interview.

How's that kool-aid? Taste good?

Palin really hurt McCain. She pandered to the Cons that were going to vote for McCain anyways, but motivated the Liberals and drove off the independents.

Of course she did, she killed any hopes of the Independents voting for McCain and like you said, drew people who were going to vote for McCain anyway. I do hope she gets the nomination in 2012. :D

Sorry that I must venture into this with an opposite conjecture, but my view of past elections makes me think that it will be all but impossible to reverse this slide into socialism in the 2010's.

When President Reagan had 10% unemployment, he lost how many seats in the house?

26

When President Johnson saw huge protests against the war, and riots outside the convention, he maintained majorities in both house.

We need, what, about 40 reversals in the House to gain control

I don't think so.

I hope I'm wrong.

I don't thin so.

I agree. Seems to me that it would be much better to see Republican legislators were trying to get new bills in, rather than just trying to block things. Don't get me wrong, blocking is necessary when possible, but there has to be ideas put forward also! What the polls show is an opportunity, I hope they seize it with a clear vision.

What I see here in crazyville, IL is Mark Kirk asking for Sarah Palin's help for his Senate bid. He's been a true RINO since Obama's election, NOW he's regretting some of those votes. Too late.

Republicans will pick up seats in 2010 as they should and it's not a reflection of them being deserving and more of reflection of the ineptitude of the Democrats.

The best thing that can happen for the country in the 2010 elections would be Harry Reid losing his seat followed closely by a couple of third party candidates willing a House seat.

I agree, Reid should lose his seat and a couple of good third party candidates should be win. It does look like Reid will lose though, thankfully.

1. The stimulus was passed in February of this year (months after the election) and McCain voted against it.
2. You really need to learn what "Marxist" means.

If the Republicans do not pick up a few seats in 2010 they are in big trouble.

The inpatient American electorate always shows some disatisfaction with the party in office.

Obama's true success will be measured in 2012

I think it is entirely too early to even pretend to project an outcome for the 010 elections. Sure a message was sent with this past election, but, a great deal can change in a years time. Further, keep in mind when the republicans had their chance, they too blew it.

Nonetheless, if we stand any chance of saving this fine nation, a large shift in the house and senate is needed.

Unless there is an unprecidented change in the electorates' ability to differentiate beween form and substance, there will be no change in the executive.

If one can speak as well as President Obama can, see the Ft. Hood speech, most folks will assume he knows what he is talking about.

Sad, but based on both human nature, and how busy most are with their own lives, that is reality.
