Paul Ryan's 'Path To Prosperity' Hurts Americans In These 10 Ways

Wealthy Benefit Most From Tax Cuts
Paul Ryan's most recent budget proposal would save those making between $20,000 and $30,000 just $246 in taxes, compared to savings of $265,011 for those who make over $1 million, according to analysis from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Health Care Cuts
The "Path to Prosperity" would cut $2.4 trillion from Medicaid and other health care programs for people with low or moderate incomes, according to analysis from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Fewer People Covered By Medicaid
Under Ryan's "Path to Prosperity" as many as 44 million fewer people would be covered under Medicaid, according to CBS News

Reduced Health Care For Retirees
Ryan would raise the age of Medicare eligibility from 65 to 67. If the Affordable Care Act was repealed, something Romney has pledged, that means many 65- and 66-year-olds would be left uninsured, the CBPP reports.

Seniors Would Pay More For Health Coverage
Under Ryan's "Path to Prosperity," senior citizens would have to pay as much as 68 percent of their health care coverage, up from 25 percent today, CBS News reports.

Cuts To Food Stamp Programs
Ryan's proposed "Path to Prosperity" includes $134 billion in cuts to SNAP, according to analysis from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Less Money For Education
Compared to the most recent White House budget proposal, Ryan's budget spends 33 percent less on education, training, employment and social services, the Washington Post reports

Poor Weather Forecasts
Ryan's proposed cuts to environment and natural resource programs could result in weather forecasts being only half as accurate, according to Third Way's budget expert, David Kendall. "For many people planning a weekend outdoors, they may have to wait until Thursday for a forecast as accurate as one they now get on Monday," he's quoted as saying in the Washington Post

No Raises For Government Workers
The current government worker pay freeze would be extended under the "Path to Prosperity," meaning public-sector employees wouldn't get a raise until at least 2015, the Washington Post reports.

1) 47% of citizens already benefit from a 0% federal income tax rate.. when that is rectified, then you can complain about differing rates and/or cuts
2) Cuts to entitlements... GOOD... there is no constitutional power granted to provide these handouts anyway
3) Education should be handled at the state and local level anyway... cutting the dept of education is a good thing.. the dept of education has done ZERO to raise educational standards or results
4) Please show any proof that any cuts to the weather service would directly result in forecasts being "half as accurate"
5) Many in the private sector are not getting raises in a down economy... why should govt workers be any different when the business of government is in horrible financial shape??

You are buying every progressive talking point, hook line and sinker

The Republican's budget would put about $100 bucks in the pockets of people with incomes under
$20K but-------but about $265,000. for someone with an income of a million bucks, or put another way, Romney's $20 million dollar plus income would give his household income the Republican's tax cut benefit of over $5 million dollars, i.e. the Ann and Mitt household would be given as much money as over 400 average households as a--wait for it-------a tax cut.

The Caymanders love this.

In the end, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities estimates that 62 percent of the cuts come from programs for low-income Americans and 37 percent of the tax benefits go to the few Americans earning more than $1 million.

In other words, Ryan’s budget fails even Ryan’s tests for encouraging social mobility: It focuses its cuts on programs for the poor rather than programs for seniors, and it doesn’t eliminate any tax loopholes. (Ryan’s office didn’t respond to requests for comment on this piece.)

Everything in the Republican's budget stifles upward mobility, that in a country that, in recent years, already has a piss poor record for upward mobility .

CHART OF THE DAY: Paul Ryan Wrong About Upwardly Mobile America

Why do you hate what used to be known as the American Dream?

If obama can take 716 billion dollars from medicare by not paying the doctors and it's called reining waste, why can't we take 716 billion dollars from education by not paying the teachers and call it reining in waste?

We should give education back to the states/community. The system should be reformed to benefit the child.

Sorry, a $16 trillion national debt is unsustainable. Mitt Romney will have a full plate in January when he starts tackling the deficit.

The American people are not stupid as Obama's handlers think they are. Not by a long shot.

You think Obama hasn't? Sure, reducing the deficit will likely mean cuts.

"hasn't"?
Hasn't what?
"likely"?
Like what?

Jeezus, talking to you people is like talking to a wall.

Very well put, Diamond Dave.

The people don't know how horrible our condition is with no budget to show where the Democrats have squandered trillions of dollars in overspending.

We need a budget, and Obama's mind is made up: he ain't gonna do no steenkin' budget where people can analyze his damages to the fiscal end of the people's republic.

What has Obama done to close the gap? He seems to have done the opposite.:eusa_eh:

THE BUCK STOP THERE. At the presidents desk.

Why do you hate what used to be known as the American Dream?

The American dream is not something to be handed to you, nor is it making someone else pay while you pay nothing... the American dream is the freedom to go after what you want, while having treatment by government under law that is EQUAL... you know, exactly the opposite of what you progressives strive for

Yep my school taxes just went up.
Educating others kids with my money.
Socialism.

I am for a pure flat tax on all personal income with no deductions.

How do you want us to fix this? By increasing education to give more people a chance at becoming successful. We seriously don't want to transfer wealth. What we must do is make more.

The Dems want everyone equal, except they want to lower everyone not raise everyone. Strange ideas.

And, booing the gay soldier who was willing to give his life for them.

rw's act like this is just s-o-o-o impossible and that giving the 1% more money will somehow "fix" the deficit.

Ryan voted to raise the deficit 65 times. Mittens is a deer in headlights. They're a disaster looking for a country to screw.
