In the end, it was not FDR that brought this country out of depression, but productivity and the private sector. In fact, it was the private sector that defeated the Axis though their sheer determination to win. That resulted in the greatest economic output in history up to that moment.

Additionally, look at our history. When was Keynesian in place? When was it not? What were the results?

Look at our GDP once supply side took over. It immediate slowed the rate of growth.

Look at median incomes compared to costs. Less and less buying power once Keynesian was abandoned.

Supply does not create demand. EVERY business owner knows to keep inventories low, to produce on demand. It's fundamental business practice. And yet we think supply side economics is the way to go? Anyone with ANY business experience knows its a lie.

A depression is not a complete collapse but a sustained slow down. Therefore, the economy is still going but at a much slower rate than its capacity.

Someone MUST increase spending in order for it to get back to capacity and growth again.

You can say "the people" all night long. But "the people" as a collective is called the government.

There is only one way in which a depression can be alleviated and worked out of. That is through the productive use of the private sector. The private sector gets its financing from the banks, and the engine of their growth is the people. Not the government. you can say the 'government spending is the answer" your entire life and it will not make it right.

The government is the people only so long as the people agree to allow it to reign.

TODAY...the government does not move at the pulse-beat of the people, but at its own desire. The government spends trillions of dollars it does not have, for a purpose that is not wanted by the majority.

Keynesian economics don't even work well in a crisis, the work not at all in normal times.

Depressions are alleviated by business, by the risk taking of the entrepreneur of this country. The courage and willingness to work hard and look to the future.

God willing, that future will be a good one...but only if government is reduced to its very minimal requirements.

Nothing else will save us.

What the heck are transportation jobs anyway? We talking jobs in the department of transportation? My understanding alot of the transportation services were run by private companies. Are we subsidizing them? Why?

If we dont get more jobs and more oil, there wont be any transportation in the country possible.

Most public school teachers are no better than parasites. They don't teach. Kids leave school totally ignorant. Many of them can't even read. Every public school teachers know parents would send their kids elsewhere if the taxpayers didn't have to pay for the swill they dish out.

Soldiers do provide a valuable services: protection from foreign predators. Policemen and firemen are grossly overpaid for the poor service they provide, but at least they provide something of value. However, their salaries consume a tiny fraction of government spending. The vast bulk of it goes to provide sustenance for parasites.
