Republicans: Forget Jobs-Lets Focus On "Embarrassing The President"

Mitch McConnell said it almost immediately after Obama swore in, their goal is to make Obama a one-term President. Period. Full-stop. It doesn't matter who get's hurt or how many Americans gets hurt in the process. Even if the entire country burns down, as long as it's on Obama's watch and they can make it stick to him...they are happy.

That's their stated goal.

I don't know how much more evidence any sane and/or thinking person would need to realize this fact.

What are you most upset with. That Mc Connel was right in saying Obama would be a disaster. Or the fact Obama is?

LoLing @ "would be"

I see America's gleefully rushing into a "Minority Report-type" society.

Carry on sir...

Damn principles of all men are equal. DONT YA KNOW.

Flawed premise.
The President needs no help embarassing himself.

ObamaDorkyDad.jpg

Ah come on - there is only one with that distinction. He holds exclusive title as the President who embarrassed himself at every opportunity in every corner of the world without the assistance from anyone and his name, like some other stuff, will live in infamy. But his initials are GWB. :cuckoo:

If what you say is correct, why does the guy in the pic reprise GWB's policies?

Logic?

You clowns have already been focused like a laser on jobs for two years and wanted Republicans in the backseat for the ride back to economic recovery. Now you demonize republicans because they jumped out of the car before Obama ran it off the cliff?....

UE went from a high point of 10-11%, when it shot up like an arrow shortly after Obama assumed office, to 9.1% now. And that's with one of the most obstructionist minority parties since the Civil War.

What are you complaining about?

Obstruction what?

Stimulus - passed

Omnibus - passed

Dodd/Frank - passed

Obamacare - passed

The whole "obstruction" thing is rather laughable. Obama had super majorities in both the House and Senate. Democrats wrote up the stimulus and Obamacare behind closed doors with the Republicans locked out in the hall. The fact is...Obama's policies haven't gotten us headed in the right direction. He's continued to pursue an anti-Private Sector agenda believing for some unknown reason that growing government will somehow get us out of the fiscal mess we're in. He's threatened businesses with Cap & Trade and Card Check legislation. He's let environmental zealots at the EPA decided what constitutes acceptable levels of emissions. He's let environmental zealots at the Dept. of the Interior shut down permitting for all off shore drilling. He's let his Justice Dept. sue companies because they chose to build a factory in a right to work State. There is a very good reason why our economy has been floundering and that reason is a President who spends more time trying to raise funds for his own reelection than he does trying to create jobs for the millions of Americans who are out of work.

What's embarrassing here?

You don't like bike riding?

Comparably which man looks over 60?

bush-bike.jpg

Is this the same idiot who landed on an aircraft carrier and announced 'Mission accomplished'? Who almost choked to death on a pretzel watching football? Who constantly embarrassed America with his inability to speak? The most embarrassing President since Gerald Ford.

Are you saying Obama never makes mistakes?

How about these?

I don't know how much more evidence any sane and/or thinking person would need to realize this fact.

On Thursday, Roll Call reported that Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) was planning to use his House Judiciary Committee gavel this fall to promote a "jobs agenda." This would represent a significant shift for a committee that has largely been focused on radical attacks on undocumented immigrants.

Smith quickly abandoned his "jobs agenda," telling right-wing radio host Joe Pagliarulo that he was now planning to hold hearings on the subject with the avowed purpose of trying to "embarrass the President." Smith also suggested that the House Appropriations Committee would defund the administration's ability to implement their plan.

Isn't every party goal to make the other party presidency end on next election? If not, why do we have elections every 4 years?

Btw, does anyone needs to embarrass the president, this one or any of the previous? Their actions, achievements and records speaks for themselves.

Exactly. And I just relinked to the Tea Party article, where they said their next goal is

"Sarah Palin, say it ain't so," barks the Patriot Action Network's Eric Odom in an E-mail to supporters today spelling out the movement's strategy to put seven new Tea Party senators in Congress to help stall President Obama's agenda.

They think EVERYBODY is blind? Seriously?? They act like none of us can see - ah. They believe the American people are stupid and ignorant.

Bad mistake. It will be their downfall.

It's very difficult to discuss things with people who can't get the most basic facts right. When did McConnell say this?

Someone who thinks that October 2010 is almost immediately after Obama was sworn in probably can't understand the practicality of that goal. The goal is to save America. The way to accomplish that is to not have Obama as president. Or as McConnell stated in greater detail:

"Over the past week, some have said it was indelicate of me to suggest that our top political priority over the next two years should be to deny President Obama a second term in office. But the fact is, if our primary legislative goals are to repeal and replace the health spending bill; to end the bailouts; cut spending; and shrink the size and scope of government, the only way to do all these things it is to put someone in the White House who won’t veto any of these things. We can hope the President will start listening to the electorate after Tuesday’s election. But we can’t plan on it."

Yes, some expressed a desire very early on that we stop Obama's agenda. But that again was not anti-American. Unlike the vast unwashed masses caught up in the hysteria of "hope and change", some of us actually LISTENED to Obama and knew some of the details of his vision for America. And we also listened enough to know what a double-talking politician he was. So we knew that if he achieved what he wanted that would be bad and we strongly suspected that if he didn't achieve what he wanted he would be the whining wienie that he is.

Not anti-American at all on our part. The people who apparently don't care about America were those who were too careless to do the research on Obama which would have shown how wrong he was for the job. Voters have a responsibility. Those who ushered Obama into office abdicated that responsibility.

the tea party has no vision for america. did you notice that in the post you quoted, amelia has no suggestions for ways to actually make the country better? all she knows is that she has to stop obama. i think obama's domestic policy sucks, but the tea party does not fulfill its patriotic duty just by opposing him, or by holding the economy hostage to undermine him. this country needs new ideas and a leader with the courage to lead the country in a new direction, and the tea party has none of that. they know what they don't want, but they have no idea what they DO want.

I really don't think President Obama needs any help in embarrassing himself--he's turned out to be his own worst enemy anyway.

Obama the most anti-business administration in our history--according to democrats who are now referring to him as the second coming of Jimmy Carter.

My point was to debunk the OP. Which I did.

Ways to improve America were included in the supporting materials for my point, but (a) you didn't see them and (b) it wasn't why I was posting.

Why try to discuss finer points with those who think that Oct. 2010 is immediately after Obama was sworn in? If you can't even get that right, then it's pearls before swine to try to go deeper.

Stopping Obama is inherently good. He could have actually done some good for the country with his stimulus if he hadn't actively discouraged it from kicking in. He could have done some good for the underwater mortgage holders of this country if he had made sure HAMP was working instead of taking his eye off the ball. He could have done some things I would have had to grudgingly give him credit for.

Instead he gave us the healthcare debacle which is a testament to his lack of leadership and his willingness to tell any amount to lies to claim undeserved credit for himself.

One of the things I am proudest of the Republicans for stopping is Cap and Trade. It doesn't take a global warming denier to know how devastating that would have been for our fragile economy.

Gridlock is better than anything Obama wants to (knows how to) accomplish. What he claims he wants he doesn't have a clue how to reach. Everything he does makes things worse. Makes it harder for people who know how to do things to get them done. Stopping him is the best plan. Sending him on a 16-month vacation would save our economy.

I'm confused...you say that Obama's domestic policy "sucks" but then you attack those that want to replace him with someone else? If you think the man "sucks" then why aren't you working for an alternative...either in the Democratic Party, the Republican Party or some other Party.

As for the Tea Party? The Tea Party does have a vision. It's not clear cut because the Tea Party isn't one group...it's a multitude of small groups that banded together to voice their displeasure over the course our country was on. Generally speaking the Tea Party is in favor of smaller government. That actually "IS" a new idea. We've been expanding the size and role of the Federal Government in an ever accelerating pace. One that isn't sustainable.

You call for a leader with the courage to lead this country? The only person who has displayed any "courage" in that department lately is Paul Ryan. He actually took on the 3rd rail of American politics...entitlements. Now you may not agree with all of his proposals but the fact is...he's the ONLY politician in Washington who had the stones to put something down on paper and present it as a plan. On the other hand, Barack Obama wouldn't even submit a credible budget let alone a plan to reform entitlements.

I wish Ryan would run for President. We need serious people doing serious work to solve our problems. What we have now are ideologues more concerned with raising money so they can serve another term than in fixing what they were sent to Washington to fix.

Un-american no compromise Pubs should not be rewarded for their obstruction and fear mongering. And thanks for the depression and the 2 stupidest and longest wars EVER...

And bring back the Fairness Doctrine- the hate, fear and misinformation from Rush/Beck/Fox/Savage is a huge disaster for the country.
