Shocking! Those heros must be Union workers.

On Fox & Friends this morning, Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. launched into a passionate attack on “Congress” and “the US Senate” for killing health benefits for 9/11 rescue workers. “Last week, Congress told them they could drop dead,” Johnson said, to the mournful chords of September Song. “Shame, embarrassment, outrage, anger—all the proper reactions to the conduct of our senators who…have turned their back on American heroes.” Worse, they’ve been betrayed by the same “politicians who couldn’t take enough pictures with them.” Right on, Peter.

But in his three-and-a-half-minute rant, Johnson didn’t once mention who in Congress could be such heartless hypocrites. The 57-to-42 vote was three short needed to break a filibuster, as every Republican voted against even bringing the bill to a vote, and every Democrat but one voted in favor.

What else was tacked onto this bill that made it so unappetizing for Republicans? You can't just look at one part of a bill anymore, the democRATS are trying to push their agenda by cramming all kinds of unrelated crap into everything they vote on during their lame dick session

Bingo

And of course... ones like Shit-tao bite hook, line, and sinker and try and bash just from the title of the proposed bill

He's an idiot

DiamondDave, until one of you bozos post some evidence that this is so, then it is just bozo talk on your part.

Oh and per the other discusions on this very topic that have been going on in the last few weeks, since when are the first responders not well insured?

Funny that the article does not link to the actual bill.... my guess would be that it is because it is a lot more complex than just the title... as most bills normally are (unfortunately)...

I'll bet you your account on here that there is lots of unpalatable stuff in the bill which is cause for voting against it....

Yoo hoo... jokey... care to wager??

Not exactly sure you understand the concept of service.

Considering if you think it is only military, you are an idiot.

I would completely agree that if you think it's only military than you are an idiot.

No the concept of service itself.

Not only do you not understand the issue, you don't understand basic English. This goes along with you not understanding the doctrine of your particular church. You are willfully ignorant. This will bite you.

I just think it's silly that service entitles anyone to anything. Service isn't done for personal gain, even though there are public servants who recieve compensation. Service is a choice that comes from the heart, not from a desire or an entitlement of compensation.

This is not to say that we can't out of the goodness of our hearts compensate people who provide service. But there is no entitlement to it.

I still have not seen any serious discussion on why these 911 heroes need this compensation. First responders in NYC had plenty of benefits. Nor do I see why the Federal Government is responsible when the State of NY or private charity could easily take care of it.

The Constitution of the United States does not authorize the Federal Government to compensate victims from tragedy.

This whole issue smells like a political ploy to spend more money based on emotions rather than facts. I am not an emotional spender. Our money is limited and we need to use it the best and most efficient way we can.

Everybody wants someone else to give them something.

Ever do anything for anybody else, asshole? Do you have a dd214? If so, do you use your benefits? Or do you think that our military personal should just be thrown out onto their own, no matter what the cost of their service has been to them.

The men and women that cleaned up after 9-11 deserve our support. Their problems have been created by an act of war.
