Republicans Failed to Understand Their Opponent

Obama won, I do wish my fellow conservatives would see the benefits in reigning in their opposition. Give him free reign. Meanwhile, figure out a plausible plan for 2 and 4 years. In the meantime, support all his ideas, giving full credit to following the will of the people and the electoral landslide.

In the meantime, more freedoms go out like a light, jobs are lost, people's lives are destroyed

Elections have consequences. Majority think this was the right road.

Yeah, 800,000 jobs lost in one MONTH at the end of W's second term. Are you feeling nostalgic or something?

Yeah, 8% unemployment and a explosion of people going on WELFARE the first four years of Obama's FIRST TERM...aren't you feeling hopeful?

My point is that the conservatives need to mind their own issues and figure out how to articulate them. In the meantime, remove themselves from the Democrat's ability to use them as an excuse. The people want 4 more years? Give them at least 2. We'll see how that works out.

I hear what you're saying Annie..but it won't matter if Democrats and Obama get everything they want, they will still lay the blame on Republicans and the people will believe it. Going over the cliff seems to be the only thing that will wake them up, I guess we'll see them at the bottom

Well McConnell would buy your position. I'm not so sure that the rest will. Going off the cliff is not a good idea, since they'll have to quickly backtrack and take the blame for any harm it causes. That is my point.

The left has failed to understand that when we; as a nation fall, there is no exemption form for liberals

Who said there is?? And apparently the majority of us do not feel the nation has failed. So what are you talking about??

Republicans should fight tooth and nail to prevent anymore backwards, massive, socialist spending hallucinations and stop the decline of America..........

The GOP didn't underestimate the President, they just felt people were smarter then they actually are. Look at the cities Obama won then look at the rest of working America that didn't support him, some mandate, then figure it out, not rocket science. Case in point, when someone else can pay the tax then by all means drink the cool aide and vote to make them pay, and when the tax man knocks on your door, and the free ride comes to an end, don't bitch fool.

Well, it's coming from their own ranks now. So it's not the left that's misinterpreting or bashing them...it's coming from within. Hopefully this starts to seep into the thick skulls of the radical RW fundies of the GOP.

Byron York reports on the bewilderment of Romney supporters:

“I am shocked, I am blown away,” said Joe Sweeney, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “I thought I had a pretty good pulse on this stuff. I thought there was a trend that was going on underground.”

It isn’t Mr. Sweeney’s fault that he believed this, or at least not entirely. He trusted conservative media and conservative pundits not to mislead him, and they let him down badly. There really was a difference this year between the standard loyalist whistling-past-the-graveyard that one sees in every election and a full-out effort among quite a few in the conservative media to deceive Romney’s supporters about the prospects of success. It’s one thing not to want to be defeatist or to give one’s “side” reasons to doubt its success, and quite another to be boldly announcing that major, overwhelming success is just around the corner when there is no good reason to expect it. I sympathize with people who supported Romney for good, principled reasons, because they were being lied to throughout the year. First, Romney lied to them that they could trust him, and then Romney’s boosters in conservative media lied to them by painting them a rosy portrait of the political landscape that they had to know was almost certainly wrong.

They thought they were running against a Muslim from Kenya. They just knew he had no chance. They just knew that it was only because he was Black and an affirmative action President

They were clueless.

No, they were running against the failed policies of a failed and flawed administration. Unfortunately for the GOP, the progressive compassionate conservative wing of the party had it's way again, jello without a message, without conviction.

that's an interesting paradox atlanta. say that you're not bashing us but then call us right wing thick skulled fundies.
Well at any rate. I live in the bastion of rw fundies, southern Idaho just north of Utah, and we can still leave the keys in the ignition at night. I'll stick with being thick skulled.

Really?? Maybe you should think over leaving your keys in the ignition and your doors unlocked. It surprises me how many people in small American towns do that. Sometimes terrible crimes happen in those towns and its citizens say the same thing, "This doesn't happen here". Well, it does and to pretend otherwise is foolish.

LOL, the last most violent crime in northern Utah was this. but then....look at the demography.

Ogden Hi-Fi murders revisited - ABC4.com - Salt Lake City, Utah News

There is nothing in this article that states it was the most recent crime. Where is your proof???
