There's been alot of talk lately about race and the two political parties in the US Demos and Repubs. While republicans have gotten alot of heat[most of it well deserved] for being insenstive as far as race relation the Democrats need not be let off the hook. Lest anyone forget, it was the Democrats[Dixiecrats] here in the deep south that practically led the charge with segregation and racism in the south. Through the Bass' personal experience here, the Bass has notice that Democrats like to talk a good game about being liberal and progressive when it comes to race relations, but the reality is that these "good liberals" are only for limited progress, limited as in they'll only let one go but so far and then trick the person into believing that "great progress" has been made when in reality the progress was marginal. In this way alot of blacks have been deceived into believing the Democrats are the best option, only to get frustrated later on when confronted with the true intentions of some of these "good liberals". Once these "good liberals" have been exposed, they resort o playing the same old Democrats vs Republicans games politically to obfuscate the real issues. This isn't a slam on all liberals just the hypocrites.

For example, in the 1960s, there were liberal white Democrats here in the south who played the racially progressive card to get votes from blacks in exchange for some token act of kindness, like getting some company to hire 30 blacks when they wouldn't hire any at all before. Those blacks who got hired made virtually *NO* progress within the company, yet the "Liberal politician" who got them those jobs feels a world of progress was made just because some blacks got hired. These same liberals are only for progress inasmuch as they could keep blacks below them but would never any blacks an opportunity to one day have the same or similar position that they themselves have. These so called "good liberals" are doing the same thing they accuse Republicans of doing.

do you have any current examples of liberals keeping blacks down? are blacks less likely to advance in a company today, and if so, do you have evidence of it? how do you propose to correct these problems?

Clinton built up this trust and friendly appearance with millions of blacks who supported here just because she's a Democrat, but look what she and cronies did[along with her adulterous husband] when things go desperate, she played the race card from the bottom of the deck and then quickly distanced herself from the comments made by he cronies to appear she wasn't a racist. Whats surprising is that alot of Negroes still supported her even after this.

well, the hillary thing deals with her competing head-to-head in a political race. that isnt exactly working to keep all blacks down, imo.

If you look at the history of Civil Rights legislation in the country, it took nearly 100 years, was all implemented by Republicans and resisted by Democrats. When the dam finally broke the Democrats took all the credit for it. They continued their attack on the black man, however, by lowering expectations and exploitation: affirmative action, welfare, a sexed-up society and dead-end jobs, and demonize Republicans who resist this new tactic. The result is a second class citizenry beholden to their Democrat crumb tossers.

Of course then the Democratic pParety (under Kennedy and then LBJ) kept pressing for equal rights under the law for Blacks in the SOUTH and blew itself up in the process.

The realignment of the South took place over several decades and you have no evidence that racists Democrats became Republicans. In fact, logic alone tells us that a Party who fought for Civil Rights over a 100 years history, including a war where Southern families were decimated, would hardly be a attraction for the decedents of those families.
