The guy was speaking the truth. Why are the current crop of Repub candidates throwing him under the bus? political expediency perhaps? :dunno:

In the furor over Todd Akin’s inventive understanding of biology, we should not lose sight of another matter. His position on abortion--that the victim of rape should be compelled to bear her rapist’s child--has been the official position of the Republican Party for more than thirty years.

For the record, what "truth" was Akin speaking?

Oh I see...
Yaaaawn.

Dot Com felt compelled to start his own rape thread since the 7 others just wont do.

LOL

not "rape" but "legitimate rape"

This is definitely a war on non-conservative women who don't care for being "submissive" (google Bachmann(R) ;) )

Indeed, the language of the GOP platform--all but certain to be adopted in Tampa next week--goes further. It declares that: "Faithful to the 'self-evident' truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.”

Taken together with its support for “a human life amendment to the Constitution,” and for “legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children," its platform calls for a ban on all abortions--even to save the life of the mother.

I am mildly amused by Liberals who manage to work up a fever about an abstract discussion of rape.....

.....yet couldn't manage to feel actual rage toward the 42nd President, the Democrat who actually raped a women.

Could you explain that disconnect, Dotty?

why don't you start a thread about it? This thread is about contemporary republicans throwing fellow members under the bus for speaking the truth :)

Why is it that liberal men are so submissive? Our women are not submissive, but you fuckups would think so. Because our women look like women. On the OWS parasite side, only men look like women. It's really quite disturbing.

Yup....I'm speaking the truth.....

...related to both rape and to politicians....

But the reason for your fear is evidence.

Democrats have no trouble voting for, idealizing, rapists and killer.....

You just hit the nail on the head! Most republican angry white and generally old men think of women as an abstract concept and everything about them is abstract, rape, abortion, birth control, equal pay, etc. It makes it a lot easier to be controlling and hateful towards them, thinking they know it all! Actually, Akin's "abstract comment" reflects exactly the way the republicans are--out of touch and not interested in getting in touch.

Repubs are scared of media fallout. Everyone knows that the mainstream media works in conjunction with tax exempt left wing propaganda sources like Media Matters and American bridge. The Associated Press which was once the premier news source for the better part of a hundred years now posts drivel like "the 1st lady gets to the gym before sunrise" and pretends it's news for all us slobs who rely on Yahoo for mail.

You should do the world a favor and take a nose dive through a wood chipper.

Utterly stunning...
And I'll bet you believe ever intellectually bankrupt and rhetorical word.

Joe Miller, Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Ken Buck, and Rand Paul,

all Senate candidates in 2010,

all having almost exactly the same position on abortion as Akin,

all ADORED by wide swaths of the Right.

Why the sudden flip flop?

It's almost as if the Right is waking up to the advice I've been giving them for years.
