Republican senator says he backs birther lawsuits

His spokesman did not respond to a question Monday about whether the senator questions Obama's citizenship.

Birthers are wasting their time, but hey,! it's something for the stupid to rally around.

If these folks really wanted to question something real, they'd question how forcing people to purchase HC insurance from private contractors serves to make it easier for people to afford HC, or why we're pissing away billions in Afghanistan.

But instead they waste their time on political non-issues because they are seeking to character assassinate the Obama the man, rather than his policies.

Typical of the of today's cult of personality politics, I suppose

The idea that there is nothing to this issue is absolutely, 100% absurd. Here we have a man whose background offers multiple possibilities for his eligibility to be in question - father's status, Indonesian citizenship for Barack, Kenyan officials celebrating "one of their citizens" becoming a U.S. president, made all very real and possible by Obama fighting like the devil (no pun intended) in lawsuits(pubic records prove it) to keep from having to disclose his long form birth certificate, along with virtually every record that could identify his citizenship status. His supposed friend, the Hawaiian governor, made a big public statement about being determined to "find it" (his pal, Obama can release it any time), and then backs off after a few days, with some lame, unintelligible explanation not from him, but his spokesperson.

This whole thing stinks to high heaven. The degree of suspension of disbelief we are now being expected to manifest to align with the notion that there is nothing amiss here, lest we be mocked as a fringe societal contingent - even though 60% of polled American have doubts- is off is some insane fairy land somewhere, now, simply to accommodate Obama, his followers, and a timid press that finds this issue too awkward to grapple with.

However, several states have been influenced by the so-called "crazy, fringe birthers' into enacting the first step of legislation to ensure that only a candidate who can produce a long form birth certificate will get on the ballot in that state. there are 11 states so far on this. Arizona looked like a failed attempt, but turned out to simply be re-routed in the process and is still expected by the sponsors and even democrats, to pass. Even liberal Mother Jones News essentially admitted Obama is probably not qualified when they said that if Arizona passes, Obama won't be able to run there!

Just one state that disallows Obama to get on the 2012 ballot in that state opens this whole thing up. So much for the "fringe birthers" not being capable of bringing about change on this issue.

We have an ongoing series of animated parodies, that conservatives love and think are funny, and democrats hate and do not think are funny, and it's amazing how freaked out liberals get when the issue is framed calmly and properly.

If any liberals want to take up the debate, answer 1 question: why is Obama fighting disclosure of his records? No dismissive, hit-and-run, smarmy one-liners with superior posturing, thanks, just the facts. There are only 3 possible answers; 1. He is ineligible, 2. He enjoys "playing with the birthers", and that makes him sadistic and therefore mentally ill and needs to be removed immediately on those grounds as someone mentally ill cannot, at the very least, have access to the nuke codes or 3, He's paranoid, with the same result as 2.

A two-minute phone call when Obama's on his next vacation at the latest is all it would take to put this to rest.

There is nothing wrong, right? Everything's peachy. Sure, nothing suspicious about this at all.

Uh-huh. And I have a bridge to sell you.

Quite the other way around, this issue is absurd.

Clinton and Mccain have undoubtedly looked into it and came up with nothing and for this to be true it would mean the federal government never made sure he was born in the US. Make that the federal government under Bush.

There is much stupidity in this paragraph.

First off there is more than one reason to play with birthers, for one their stupid conspiracy makes conservatives look bad the same way 9/11 truthers make liberals look bad.

Second being mean to your political opponents barely qualifies as sadism (if at all)

Being a sadist doesn't make you mentally ill, and the mentally ill (a vague term) are not barred from being President.

And the paranoid are not barred from office either.

In a stunning move, the U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled another "conference" on a legal challenge to Barack Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office
