Republican quits Republican-run House in disgust

Wow one guy retiring baton down the hatches. Liberals really have nothing, their brains are more bankrupt than the country

What's the difference in retiring now and those who chose not to run for reelection?

You can't figure it out? :eusa_eh:

You can?

Potentially leaving his party in the lurch, Rep. Steven LaTourette (R) of Ohio is set to announce his retirement at the end of this term, the Columbus Dispatch and The Hill newspaper reported Monday evening.

they all use the term "retire" unless they're kicked out. He waited until a scant 3-months before the election to send his party a message. :eusa_boohoo:

Same with Snowe and all the rest, Dems included- they're all sick to death of the "no compromise, un-American Tea Party GOP" (TIME). Have passed 1/7th the number of laws of Truman's do nothing congress- a disgrace. And their idiot dupes. So goodbye, a-holes- you're about to take your well earned place in the garbage can of history.. Only 30% are brainwashed morons like you.

right you are my friend. From the link:

To say his announcement amounts to pulling an Olympia Snowe – the Republican Senator from Maine announced her retirement out of the blue back in March, turning a solid Republican electoral prospect into grave peril – by announcing one’s electoral intentions deep into an election year, would be an understatement.

The incredibly shrinking extremist party, the GOP :dev2: :eusa_clap: He could've waited until the end so that Rove could arrange to buy the seat but now the seat isn't a sure thing and Rove will have to scramble w/ that money from secret donors of his. :eusa_boohoo:

The announcement by Steven LaTourette, just three months before November elections, that he is retiring, could cost Republicans a House seat they had expected to win.

If the GOP keeps going the way they are, there going to paint themselves into permanent minority status. And won't that be ironic.

Well, aren't you just Mr One Party State. Commie.

I have no idea who the above post is directed at or who the "30% brainwashed morons" refer to. Could it be the 30% of the vote the Democrat Party's O'Neil got in 2010 when running against LaTourette?

Damn. Maybe LaTourette's Republican replacement will only get 55% of the vote instead of 65% this time around. Shiver me timbers!

With the loss of friend and a staunch grand bargain advocate, Boehner’s job is unlikely to get easier. Another close ally of the Speaker, Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa) is in a close re-election fight against a fellow lawmaker, Rep. Leonard Boswell (D). On Thursday, LaTourette said he didn’t believe his continued presence in Congress could overcome the polarization preventing bipartisan action on the nation’s top priorities.

Oh I don't think anyone is saying "one party state"....there is always another party stepping up....it just may not be the Republicans who, right now, look like they are going the way of the Federalists.

You ever wonder why Boehner & McConnell have been in Washington so long when they signed Tubby's "pledge". This is the guy who said he would strangle the gov't in the bathtub yet McConnell has been there how long now?

He could play dirty politics like the dimwits do to ensure the seat stays in his party.
