Republican Party - Home to the KKK for the last 47 years!

Do you ever wonder why Republicans have to go back to 1962 to find the last time they were on the side of social justice or supported any equal rights legislation? Do you ever wonder why they love to mention that Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican or why they keep mentioning Lincoln and how the Democrats were on the side of slavery?

It's because in 1964, President Johnson, a Democrat, signed the civil rights act and nearly all of the racists Democrats of the South, changed political parties. They found a new home in the Republican party and have been there ever since. The KKK often has rally's to drum up support for the Republican party. David Duke, KKK Grand Wizard, held office as a Republican as recently 1992 and was in contention for the Republican Presidential nomination.

When a Republican decries the Democratic party of racism, ask them what the Republicans have done to promote equality on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion since 1964. The will be silent because they have fought against all of the progress made toward equality that was pushed through by Democrats. Republicans don't like minorities, homosexuals, women, or poor people. In fact, if you're not a straight, white, old, Christian male, you represent everything they hate... people who will challenge their power and who want power to be in the hands of regular people instead of the wealthy even brown, gay, non-Christian people! Perish the thought. ;)

So true and I dare anyone to deny it.

You are a Class A asshat.... And yes, I deny everything you say because it's your own realm of self delusion that sees things this way... have fun with that you sad, pathetic, ignorant little waste of humanity.

those who have problems with race dont join the democratic party due to its large populations of people of color.

That only leaves one major party to join for them.

The one with very few people of color.

Your party also takes illegals, welfare cases, and dumb-fucks. Like you.

Good one. Then explain the hate and racism of the OWS movement

Jesse Helms - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An unreconstructed Southern conservative, he began his political career in the Democratic Party in the days when white Southern politicians championed racial segregation. He moved to the Republican party in the 1970s. Helms was the most stridently conservative politician of the post 1960 era,[4] especially in opposition to federal intervention into what he considered state affairs (integration, the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act). Helms tried, with a 16-day filibuster, to stop the Senate from approving a federal holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

Helms was credited even by his most vociferous opponents with providing excellent constituent services through his Senate office.[5]

As long-time chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he demanded a staunchly anti-communist foreign policy that would reward America's friends abroad, and punish its enemies. His relations with the State Department were often acrimonious, and he blocked numerous presidential appointees. However, he worked smoothly with Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.[6]

In domestic affairs, Helms promoted industrial development in the South, seeking low taxes and few labor unions so as to attract northern and international corporations to relocate in North Carolina.

On social issues, Helms was a traditionalist. He was a "master obstructionist" who relished his nickname, "Senator No."[7] He opposed, at various times, civil rights, disability rights, feminism, gay rights, affirmative action, abortion, and government support for modern art with nudity.[8] Helms brought an "aggressiveness"[9] to his conservatism, as in his rhetoric against homosexuality, and employed racially charged language in his campaigns and editorials.[10]

Keep staying in denial, LMBO!

USATODAY.com - GOP: 'We were wrong' to play racial politics

"Some Republicans gave up on winning the African-American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization," Mehlman said at the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. "I am here today as the Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong."

Mehlman's apology to the NAACP at the group's convention in Milwaukee marked the first time a top Republican Party leader has denounced the so-called Southern Strategy employed by Richard Nixon and other Republicans to peel away white voters in what was then the heavily Democratic South. Beginning in the mid-1960s, Republicans encouraged disaffected Southern white voters to vote Republican by blaming pro-civil rights Democrats for racial unrest and other racial problems.
