Ive been here long enough and Im still trying to figure out which way USMB leans. Or does it float this way and that? So....which party are you? Or none of the above (independent)?
And again..nobody can see how you vote, nor do you need to explain why.

I will state upfront I am independent. Ill vote Repub or Dem. Whomever I feel will do the best job gets my vote.

Oh bless your soul... EVERYONE's an 'Independent' around here.

I've never had to register for a party in order to vote because my state laws don't require it. If I had to choose, it would be Democrat :blues:

Yeah, not a member of any party until I find one that is pro guns, social security, choice, porn, gay marriage, military, right to die and pollution controlls while being anti states rights and out of my personal business.

You're dependent on a third party?

I was at one time, but those days are long gone.
So wouldn't that make you an independent?

Not the way I see it. 'Independent' is way too vague to mean anything these days. Everyone seems to claim they are an independent, but it's really meaningless. I'm aligned with a form of the libertarian party that no longer exists and so are many others, so I could be classified as a 'libertarian' (with a lower-case 'L'). But if someone wants to call me an independent, it won't bother me. I just won't answer to it.

Started out Democrat, Tried the Republicans for a bit. Now I consider myself an independent with libertarian leanings :)

Anti States rights? So you support our Right to bear arms, but not our states rights? How do you plan to keep those arms with an all powerful Fed?

lol

Both major parties are systemactically dismantling the great American experiment that the Founders started for us and they have been doing so since Teddy Roosevelt. I am registered Republican because they are dismantling it somewhat more slowly than are the Democrats, but both parties suck big time. I register Republican so that I can vote in the primary elections which Independents cannot do in our state.

My ideology is mostly Classical Liberal which is the accurate term for what most call Modern American Conservatism these days. Basically I agree with the Founders that the Constitution only works for a mostly religious and virtuous people, the Federal government should secure our rights according to duties specified in the Constitution and then leave us alone to govern ourselves as we see fit.

LOL, most independents are just embaressed Republicans.

I loved the jump of independent registrations from about 2006 to 2008.

the rest claimed to be libertarians.
But still think we should be the police force of the world.

Oh, I'd say independents comprise about 50% embarrassed Republicans, 50% embarrassed Democrats. Unfortunately, people still vote along Party lines which is sad. I will say that at least with Democrats you usually know what you're getting. Republicans, not so much. And as you've stated correctly, you cannot be a libertarian and believe the US should police the world.
