Republican and Religious control of education

helps? to teach stupid, inaccurate, rightwing propaganda to kids?

yeah, that should help

let's just keep teaching left wing propaganda like we've been doing since the 60's.

that's been working out well for us.

Right wing revisionist history will not help. But it can be used as a counter point, say in Texas.

The teacher can say, "The Texas text book committee want you the student to reconsider the role of Joe McCarthy in American history. As we study him, you will learn about demagoguery, alcoholism, propaganda and power over service to the country. You bet, let's talk about Joe McCarthy."

Except that Joe McCarthy was 100% correct US State Department was overrun with genuine Communist spies.

As true as that might be, there is a lot more to it than that. An examination of the potentials of MKultra can create a comprehensive understanding.

Only you are saying it is happening. Government does what people allow it get away with it. The failure is not the government, skull, the failure is the parents who won't get involved in their children's education. So you are part of the failure because you are not helping the parents so they will accept responsibility for the system's failure.

It's not my responsibility to help anyone take responsibility for their lives.

They either will or they won't. It's not the government's job to enable people to make poor choices and neither is it the government's job to ameliorate the results of one's poor choices.

You live in the country of We the People, who duly elect their representative government

You do not live in a hole by yourself.

So, yes, you may participate if you wish, and you will certainly pay your share for it.

The federal government had few communist spies. You certainly have provided no reputable sources for your assertion. And McCarthy was an unreliable, unreputable alcoholic demagogue.

tl/dr

Since when is it a crime to have ETHICS???

Are you saying that you're AGAINST having some sort of ethical view of the world?

Good luck with that

I pay more than my "fair share" because assholes like you think that some people shouldn't pay theirs.

The fact is the founders did believe in a social compact, in which the people return certain powers to the government that protects them. In a country as blessed as ours, the greedy still wanted more and nearly broke the system.

does anyone really belive the religous right has more control over our education system than the secular left? really?

maybe the tea party really controls the NAACP...

Maybe cad has not been following the social studies text books discussion in Texas lately.

so the reason schools hand out condoms to 8th graders and we now have "winter holiday" instead of christmas break and 2nd graders are read books about homosexuals is because the religious right controls public education?

Cad asking questions to get the point you want is doomed to failure. The text book committee attempted to revise social studies in Texas high schools. However, high school instructors have autonomy in the class room, so that is no great worry.

But to suggest that the right is not trying to control education with activist reactionary agendas is a hoot.

You would fail as a salesman.

And those certain powers of the government were clearly enumerated. The problem is government is overstepping its bounds.

Not at all. The branches of government check each other and they have a separation of powers. If the system is failing, then it is failing because of the people. The same with public education: it is only as strong as the tax payers and parents involved in education.

Your reactionary obstructionism means nothing, skull. Enough tax payers and citizens are involved with government and the electoral process to make sure we are not going back to the failed policies of the reactionary agenda.

No now we're spending trillions on the failed policies of the progressive agenda.

Either way we lose.

The policies have not yet failed, they stopped the massive slide into depression caused by the greed of the wing nut right's reactionary agenda, and we have a long crawl up out of the mud.

Or did that slide stop all by itself? We'll never know.

And if the slide was stopped why all the new spending? 26 Billion with all kinds of strings attached to states, another round of 10 billion to seniors etc etc

Only half the so called stimulus has been spent and real unemployment is something like 15% so tell me what are your progressive heroes waiting for?
