Bobby Jindal, the Louisiana governor widely seen as a Republican rising star, will keynote a high-profile Christian conservative fundraising dinner next month in Iowa, his office confirms.

Jindal will speak at the Iowa Family Policy Center's “Celebrating the Family” banquet in suburban Des Moines on November 22nd, according to his spokeswoman, Melissa Sellers. While in the state, he also may to go to Cedar Rapids to see some of those areas impacted by the summer floods. Jindal, of course, has led his state's recovery from Katrina since being elected in 2007.

It will be Jindal's first visit to Iowa, Sellers said.

The trip is a reminder that, even with a presidential election looming, caucus politics is never far away in the Hawkeye State.

The Christian conservative organization is led by Chuck Hurley, a well-known activist who first backed Sam Brownback before switching over to Mike Huckabee in this year's GOP nomination battle.

Their flyer touting Jindal's speech features quotes from conservative luminaries. "The next Ronald Reagan," says Rush Limbaugh.

Jindal, 37, got some vice-presidential buzz this year and spent a well-documented Memorial Day weekend at the McCain ranch near Sedona along with other prominent GOP elected officials and potential future rivals.

He has won praise from a range of Republican figures from McCain's top advisers to Limbaugh to anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist.

Though never thought to be in the serious running to be McCain's running mate, he has emerged as frequent surrogate this year, doing Sunday morning shows on the Arizona senator's behalf and spending last Saturday at the LSU-Florida game in Gainesville making the pitch for the nominee.

You dont' know anything about Bobby Jindal other than the two paragraphs you read on his wikipedia bio page.

Its been great fun watching Cons flip flop around, trying to grasp onto somebody with no ties to Bush/Cheney/Tom Delay/Rove.

But, you said Sarah Palin was an awesomely qualified person to be a potential commander in chief, two minutes after McCain picked her. And long before you had the first, foggiest clue who she was. You read a couple paragraphs on Newsmax about her, and immediately concluded she was awesomely qualified..

Calm down. You don't know anything about him yet.

Imagine the freaking out when they realize his first name is Piyush. Wonder if they will call him a terrorist?

I wonder if his being a hindu early in life will get him called a Hindu again and a terrorist?

TPM Election Central | Talking Points Memo | Is Bobby Jindal -- Who May Be On McCain's Veep Shortlist -- An Exorcist?

Ohh this is gonna be fun if he gets nominated.

Not even Jesus himself if he exists could save the Republican party at this point if the extreme right stay in charge.

Very good Robert! You're only 17 but you already well versed in Chicago style politics: Destroy your opponent before he joins the race.
But listen, if talking about Obamas faith and culture had no effect then how will discussing Gov. Jindals' faith and culture have any effect either?
Also, you should read up on India and the religions there. Did you know India has quite a positive viewpoint of America? Also read up on the origins of India and Pakistan too. Careful though, you may actually learn something!

It would be absurd to assume what anyone thinks about Jindal, other than the people of Louisiana. I would issue warning to anyone considering running, this cycle was at least a year too long. To consider 4 instead of two, would be a decision made to encourage serious hatred by the electorate.

Well isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? And really what do you know about Obama? I would loved to know about his activities in college; what grades he earned, who paid for his Harvard education. You don't know, and you still don't care. So let's stop the hypocrisy.
