(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) said President Barack Obama “needs to admit” his economic policies “have failed” America. To back up his assertion, West cited the national debt increase under Obama’s watch.

“What people have to understand, there’s one simple reason why we’re in this situation right now. There has been close to $4-and-a-half trillion dollars of new debt that has come about in two-and-a-half years since President Obama took office,” said West after a press conference about the Priority Spending Act of 2011. “So this is a catastrophic situation. That’s more debt than from, I believe, 1776 up to 1994 almost. So that’s what we’re contending with.” Bill Text - 112th Congress (2011-2012) - THOMAS (Library of Congress)

“We’re also contending with three years of an exorbitant amount of deficits – $1.42 trillion, $1.29 trillion, and then this year possibly $1.65 trillion. So those are the types of things that the president needs to admit: that his economic policies, his tax policies have failed this country.”

The 111th Democrat-controlled Congress, which cast its last vote on December 22, 2010, added $3.22 trillion to the national debt, according to data posted by the Treasury Department. This amount surpasses the debt added by the first 100 Congresses combined.

The Priority Spending Act, backed by Rep. West in the House, would require the federal government to fund the following obligations, in order, before any others when it reaches the statutory debt limit:

What the Republicans need to do is reconcile the fact that their obstructionism is not helping and is in fact, bad for America.

The level of obstruction seen now is only matched by the sort of congress this country had during the civil war.

No one is asking anyone to "roll" over. But this "my way or the highway" crapola is really to much.

Especially since for the most part, when they get the highway..then move to a different highway.

I've posted this before. Maddow does an excellent job of illustrating this.

How is it "obstruction" when McConnell wanted to give Obama 3 debt ceiling raises of his choosing for the rest of his term?

I'd call it Surrender. Capitulation. Treason. It ain't obstruction.

Wow. There is a platform that will get you nothing in 2012. the platform of NO. Guess what? America is watching.

Oh no it ain't.

It's entirely political. And cynical to boot.

President Obama called their bluff...and McConnell has tried to punt. Only now, THAT may not even work. Cantor and his tea party nut bags are making noises like they are going to be the monkey wrenches in that deal. Cantor has now basically shirked the deficit fight and gone on to dig his heels in on the Bush Tax Cuts.

His Wall Street fat cat buddies are dong well and especially GE,but most average Americans aren't. His Stimulus has cost us $278,000 Per Job. Shocking to believe but it is true. I guess we should be grateful he didn't create too many of those Jobs. We don't need anymore of his kind of "Help" creating Jobs. West nailed this one for sure. It's all very sad but it is what it is.

Rep. West: Obama ‘Needs to Admit’ His Economic Policies ‘Have Failed’ America

Obama is just a puppet. The guy can't even speak without a teleprompter and has zero real-world experience. He just does what his masters tell him to do.

He has alot more experience than you'll ever have, and teleprompters are used in all areas of broadcasting media.

Really?

What "real world" experience does any of these politicians on the right have?

What's "real world" experience that seems to get bandied about anyway?

Romney's "real world" experience was entering a company he didn't start..getting a government bailout..which enriched him personally..and then is company proceded to raid other companies just to cut them..and lay people off.

Palin's "real world" experience was as a beauty queen and newscaster.

Gingrich has been a politician for most of his life.

George W. Bush's "real world" experience was being born into a wealthy family where he basically coasted from business venture to another, trashing each and every one of them..and then entering poltics.

So really..what "real world" experience are you talking about?

Nice try, but this thread is about Obama. Obama doesn't have any experience to speak of. It's time Americans demanded better of their leaders. That includes the Republicans and 3rd Party Candidates (if they are allowed to win). And since you asked, real world experience is experience in the real world where people work for a living for themselves or a company where a profit must be made.

Obama does have experience, it is you that has no real world experience, or maybe you do, how many years have you been a successful politican? Have you ever attained the office of The President of The United States?
