Rep sues for $150,000 in damages for chipped tooth

I hope he's fined $150,000 for a frivolous law suit.
Do you truly believe Kucinich's lawsuit is frivolous or are you just a right wing chauvinist?

What would you do if you broke a tooth on the pit of an olive that came from a jar labeled "pitted olives?"

A $150k plus the expenses can put a sandwich shop out of biz.

But since the shop is ours, he's taking our money.

what's partisan about being pissed that some whiny bitch is taking our money when we are already short on money?
Do you believe that cafeteria is being operated without liability insurance? That would be stupider than driving a taxicab company without liability insurance. Anyone who would do that deserves the inevitable consequences.

And who pays the premiums? No such thing as a free lunch. (Pun intended)

Boehner, like Pelosi should make some changes so the cafeteria is "Dem friendly" Applesauce, mashed potatoes and Ensure. No chew foods are far less hazardous to your health.

LMAO Good one.

There should be a law.

All sandwichs/subs should come with warning labels.

What do you wanna bet that will be the next really, really important thing Congres takes up?? LOL

WARNING; Eating food my cause a sensation of fullness.
WARNING; Eating a toasted sandwich may lead to hearing crunching sounds.
WARNING; There might be sumpting in dis hoggie you dun wanna eat, just put it down, back away slowly and no one gets hurt.

Joking is find and dandy but in all seriousness the eating of Olives is now shown to lead to serious injuries or disorders. The chronic nature of the mental distress is obviously going to impede this mans ability to do his job. The symptoms this Congressman will suffer can appear at anytime.

There are many chronic musculoskeletal disorders this Congressman will suffer, Temporomandibular joint disorder is the most immediate concern.

If anyone is eating a pizza, a Subway sandwich, or a salad with Olives, if you experience discomfort, pain, throbbing, aching, tingling, numbness, burning sensation or stiffness. DO NOT IGNORE THESE WARNING SIGNS, PROMPTLY SEE A QUALIFIED OBAMACARE HEALTH PROFESSIONAL

The warning signs I just stole from the warning on the bottom of my keyboard, except for the word Obamacare, I added that to reflect current times.

LMAO

You left out if they have thoughts of suicide, heart palpitations, their throat starts to close or if they sleepwalk they need to consult their qualified Obamacare professional ASAP.

People just want to RAAAAGGGGEEE against something that seems beyond common sense. What they don't realize is that there's more to the story than just an olive pit. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy and angry-good to raaaaageeeezomg! against a stupid politician...until you actually realize the law behind it.

The following is copy from a form email I received from Dennis Kucinich today:

Regarding Settlement of Dental Injury Law Suit

Dear Friend,

Though I would prefer to focus your attention on my work dealing with the profoundly important issues that face our nation, such as job creation, getting the economy back on track, and ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq - it seems that some are more interested in discussing my personal dental issues. Given the degree of public interest you should know some details:

This injury required nearly two years, three dental surgeries, and a substantial amount of money to rectify.

The legal action you have heard about was filed due to the severity, expense and duration of the dental injury, the complications which followed and which still persist. I wanted to resolve this matter without filing a lawsuit. The events below involved numerous dental visits, more than are detailed in this summary. The dental injury set in motion a chain of dental and medical events.

When I bit into the olive pit, (unbeknown to me at the time), upon impact the tooth split in half, vertically through the crown and the tooth, below the level of the bone. Externally there was no evidence of a break. This was not about aesthetics. The internal structure of the tooth was rendered nonrestorable.Although the pain was excruciating, I shook it off and I went right back to work.

This tooth is a key tooth which anchored my upper bridgework. The injured tooth and the bone above it became infected. I took a course of antibiotics for the infection, had an adverse reaction to the antibiotics which caused me to have an intestinal obstruction and emergency medical intervention.

Later, my dentist referred me to a specialist who informed me that the damaged tooth had to be removed. A third dentist removed the tooth and I was fitted for a temporary partial. I waited for the bone to heal. An implant was placed, but it failed. Many months later still a second implant succeeded. My bridgework had to be completely reconfigured, a new partial was designed, so this injury did not affect only one tooth, but rather involved six (6) replacement teeth as well. A new crown with a new precision attachment was engineered and put in place. To clarify, no dental expenses were covered by any health plan, nor did I have dental insurance that covered the injury, which, until it was resolved, affected my ability to chew food properly.

The clamor for information about this incident requires that I provide at least this much information. I would have liked to provide such details sooner but did not want it said that I was trying the case in the media. So that is why I declined any interviews about the matter. The parties have exchanged information and after some investigation and discussion have resolved the matter for an amount all parties believe reflects the actual out-of-pocket expenses related to this incident. The terms of the settlement are confidential; however, I feel that the defendants have responded fairly and reasonably. I don't want to have to make another dental visit for a very long time, and will be making no further comment on this matter.

Thank you very much.

Dennis

So...to all those RAAAAAAAAGING against the stupid politician...it seems you knew very little about the damage done to him and just wanted to rail against someone when you didn't know the facts.

I'm all against nuisance complaints, but thinking every lawsuit is just an attempt to find a winning lottery ticket is pretty irresponsible too.

Hey lady. You'll forgive us our ignorance but just from my viewpoint and I speak only for myself. I paid close attention to the OJ Simpon trial and came to the conclusion that "truth" and "integrity" have very little to do with lawyers and law. It's all about who can tell the biggest lie and get away with it. Then you turn around and blame that sham of "justice" on police. I don't think Doctors, Nurses, Policeman and other hard working Americans appreciate you shenanigans. And if it's irresponsible for the layperson to jump to false conclusions then maybe lawyers have an image problem.. Yathink? Oh yeah,, and then there was that lawyer/judge who sued a couple who owned a drycleaning store for millions of dollars over lost pants.. Yuck. he ruined them.. and for what? a pair of damn pants.

Willow is speaking for myself, also. Good post, Willow. :clap2:

So someone who hates lawyers and hates the legal process doesn't trust lawyers *yawn* big shocker.

Truth and integrity have EVERYTHING to do with the law. Are there bad apples? Sure. Does one bad apple spoil the barrel? Of course not.

The legal profession works really hard on a daily basis to go over an above the standards of ethics shown in other businesses BECAUSE we get such a bad rep. City, state and national bar associations prosecute ethics violations, create legal funds, have numerous tip/hotlines, do pro bono work, require ethics training yearly...the list goes on and on.

You hate lawyers...that's your opinion and you're welcome to it. But don't think your judgment on a legal issue is worth listening to if you don't use logic instead of emotion.

See? there's that little matter of "truth" and "integrity" again. I never once uttered the words "I hate lawyers." Case dismissed.

Don't trip patting yourself on the back. The words never came out of your mouth..err fingers...but the sentiment is clearly stated.

It's obvious what your opinion of lawyers is and you're biased on the subject. Bullseye!

Don't worry. When you need a lawyer you'll come asking one for help. People like you always do.
