Take money away from people who never worked for it? Sounds like typical GOP policy.

from his speech:

Let me clarify, because that may seem strange to some people that this applies to zero percent of taxpayers. [Page: H2225]
But the bill we are considering with regard to the inheritance tax on estates over $10 million would apply to 0.15 percent of taxpayers. That can be rounded down to zero.

It doesn't even apply to those taxpayers. It applies to them after they are dead. So it applies to zero living Americans.

Mind you, we won't have a debate about the broken immigration policies that impact over 11 million immigrant workers who would grow the tax base.

We won't have discussions on reducing taxes for the middle class, but we are having policies that affect a few thousand dead people, a few thousand rich dead people, I might add.

The inheritance has already been taxed at least once in some form. How many times do you want to tax the same thing? Are you really that brain washed?

Liberals think they are entitled to what everyone else has but no one is entitled to anything they have.

Why do you want people to receive money who never earned it? Isn't that the foundation of GOP philosophy?

one REAL Republican was against rw'ers rec'g unearned income:

A heavy progressive tax upon a very large fortune is in no way such a tax upon thrift or industry as a like would be on a small fortune. No advantage comes either to the country as a whole or to the individuals inheriting the money by permitting the transmission in their entirety of the enormous fortunes which would be affected by such a tax; and as an incident to its function of revenue raising, such a tax would help to preserve a measurable equality of opportunity for the people of the generations growing to manhood.

Vote Obama ? I was unaware he will be running for anything.
Obama is sooooooooo over with !

To the Democrats who continue pushing this dumbfuck argument that it's okay to take away an inheritance because the recipient didn't earn it:

It's not about the recipient, it's about the benefactor. See, the benefactor -did- earn that money, and what the benefactor wanted to do with it, is give it to the beneficiary. Why you feel you deserve to have a say in what the benefactor is allowed to do with money -he- earned and money -he- already paid taxes on is beyond me. Stop being principled and generous with -other people's- shit. You wanna give away money? Go earn some and give it away, you selfish pricks.

We need to understand liberal logic....
To libs what we earn really is the government's money first.
Then after they take their cut they allow us to keep what's left.
And it pisses them off that we get to keep too much of it.

Any and every chance they get they will look to get back more of "their" money....
What do they want it for?
Who knows.
It's theirs and they want it back.....

More,more,more.....
They always want more.

Yeah, it's hard not to notice how hungry the statists always are for new "revenue streams" (more accurately, justifications to take more of your money). My favorite thing about it is the subtle reversal of adjectives they use to justify themselves philosophically. . . Orwell hit the nail on the fuckin head! "The tax cutters are selfish because they don't wanna help (insert sacred cow special interest here)."

But then you examine who's really selfish. . .

The people who want everyone to be able to keep more of what they earn are selfish and greedy. . .

While those who want to use the machinations of government to force everyone else to conduct themselves (especially economically) in a manner that perpetuates -their- values, those people are being unselfish? Eagerness to spend someone -else's- money on causes -you- find important is generosity? Forcing equal outcomes for the industrious and the inert is fairness? The language has literally been turned upside down.

link?

I got one from a former, Git 'r done, Repub, President that contradicts you. (post #11)

Why can't rw'ers produce wealth instead of inheriting it? BTW- the rate doesn't kick-in until $5,000,000 for individuals & $10,000,000+ for married couples so yeah....

What needed a link, there? Do you want a link to a dictionary definition of benefactor? Earn? I don't get it, I did't posit anything factually questionable. The fact that you can link a republican who is against inheritance tax but for a different reason doesn't change anything I just said.

10 million in farm , ranch , timber land , structures , livestock , machinery and assorted material and property is not that much exemption money anymore . Might be a lot of money if in cash and in the hand but if in land and assorted property that's being worked to make a living its not all that much money !! Heck , a ranch or other land and everything that goes with it might be worth 20 to 100 million . With the cutoff being 10 million that means that taxes need to be paid after the 10 million exemption . Where does that money come from to pay those taxes Dot ??
