There were so many great female vocalists in the Big Band era, and in the years after WWII ended, I thought I would offer one of the best for comment.
NOTE FOR YOUNGSTERS: Beverly Kenney was like Jerri Southern. Their recordings are rare gems, but they never acquired the fame that came to Joni James (my favorite) Patti Page, Sarah Vaughan, Kay Starr, Rosemary Clooney, and countless others that came along in the years that combined their talents with advances in recording technology accompanied by fabulous arrangements. The big bands had the musicians, the vocalists, and the arrangers, but they never had the sound technology that came after the name bands disappeared.
