A North Carolina jury found former presidential hopeful John Edwards not guilty of one out of six counts in his federal corruption trial Thursday. The judge in the case declared a mistrial after the jury failed to return a verdict on the remaining five charges.

Wonder if they'll retry the other counts? I'm seeing conflicting reports on that. Either way, the man is lower than scum. Maybe now he'll retreat into oblivion where he belongs.

Or MSNBC will sign him up as a host. (Shudder!)

I think that's one level of Hell above Oblivion.

Okay, but seriously. The man was scumwad, but we should have known that from day one. He made his money as an ambulance chaser. Sometimes he took on valid cases. Sometimes he just went after a big payday, like speaking for the fetus in a malpractice trial against a doctor.

I think a lot of the mewling from the right isn't because of his scumwad behavior (remember Newt?) but because he said stuff about Two Americas that made the right uncomfortable.

Some on the jury found him guilty.
