Remember how criminal the Clinton's were and are, it began with travelgate, firing long term employees of White House travel agency, the Clintons then sent the FBI to investigate the employees trying to find a crime.

Now we have wikileaks exposing the same type of behavior by Hillary Clinton. Human nature repeats itself one again

Report Summary:
Travelgate is a story about the failure of the Clinton White House to live up to the ethical standards expected of the highest office in the land. The wrongdoing of this administration lies not in the firings of the seven Travel Office employees. They served at the pleasure of the President. If the President chose to fire them to reward political cronies, that was his prerogative.

Rather, the wrongdoing occurred after the firings. It resulted from a desire to hide the truth about who actually fired them and why. The committee spent 3 1/2 years investigating not just who fired them and why, but the wrongdoing that followed. The resulting mosaic pieced together from the facts uncovered reveals the answers the White House refused to disclose. In the end, the actions of the Clinton administration following the firings may have a lasting and damaging impact on the Office of the Presidency.

The committee has found that the motive for the firings was political cronyism: the President sought to reward his friend, Harry Thomason, with the spoils of the White House travel business. A pretext for the firings was created, and the trigger was pulled.

When the public reacted to the firing with outrage, the roles of the President, First Lady and Thomason were minimized as the White House staff engaged in a colossal damage-control effort. First, it had to portray the victims of the firings as the wrongdoers. This was achieved by White House officials unleashing the full powers of the Federal Government against the seven former workers. The extraordinary might of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Justice- not to mention the prestige of the White House itself -all were brought to bear. These actions constitute a gross abuse of the rights of seven American citizens and their families.

Second, an enormous and elaborate cover-up operation, housed in the White House Counsel's Office, sought to prevent numerous investigations from discovering not only the roles of who fired the workers and why, but also their efforts to persecute the victims. In the process…it obstructed and frustrated all investigations; it turned the Office of the White House Counsel into a political damage-control operation; it made frivolous claims of executive privilege; it abused its powers to smear innocent citizens; and most important, it failed to level with the American people.

Hillary's involvement:
… a long-hidden memo by a key figure in the Travel Office affair, David Watkins, disclosed that Hillary Clinton, based upon information provided by Harry Thomason, pressured senior White House aides for the firings. Despite President Clinton's misleading press accounts that he knew little about the firings, …Bill Clinton actually was briefed on the firings 2 days before they occurred. And then-Assistant to President Clinton for Management and Administration, David Watkins reluctantly became the designated fall guy for the firings in order to protect the higher-ups who had directed his actions.

…the long-hidden notebook kept by Vincent Foster had been in the office of White House Counsel Bernard Nussbaum following Mr. Foster's death. The notebook chronicled Mr. Foster's anguish over Hillary Clinton's role in the firings, Harry Thomason's potential criminal liability, and whether the White House scandal containment strategy could be maintained to stop at the level of David Watkins.

… Mrs. Clinton directed President Clinton's Chief of Staff, Mack McLarty not to tell President Clinton about the torn up "suicide" note found in Vincent Foster's briefcase on July 26th, 6 days after his death. Mrs. Clinton instructed the President's senior aides to wait until a "coherent position" was developed before informing the President. The note was essentially an outline of a defense of the Travel Office firings. When it took more than a day to turn the note over to the proper law enforcement authorities, both the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General were so concerned that the Deputy Attorney General immediately initiated an FBI investigation into the delay in turning over the note. In the investigation of the delay, no one mentioned Mrs. Clinton's involvement in reviewing the note or recommending a delay in turning it over.

…a letter long withheld from all investigators which David Watkins wrote to "Hillary." In that letter, Watkins lamented that the GAO revealed conversations that Watkins had with Mrs. Clinton. Mr. Watkins assured Mrs. Clinton that he knew who his "client" was and regretted revealing that Mrs. Clinton told him she wanted "those people out" and "our people in.

Remember when Bill Clinton committed Perjury

Bill Clinton’s Perjury - By Mark R. Levin - The Corner - National Review Online

Bill Clinton’s Perjury
October 25, 2005 12:29 P.M.
By Mark R. Levin
… he helped Monica Lewinsky write a false affidavit denying sexual relations with him; he intended the false affidavit to be used during his deposition, and in fact his lawyer (Bob Bennett) did use (unwittingly) the false affidavit to try to convince the judge overseeing the deposition (Susan Webber Wright) to limit questions to Clinton during the deposition; Clinton himself confirmed the accuracy of the false Lewinsky affidavit during his deposition; and Clinton lied repeatedly during the sworn deposition about his relationship with Lewinsky. There were no problems with bad recollections or unintended omissions. As Judge Wright ruled in her contempt holding against Clinton, Clinton made “intentionally false” statements. Clinton also enlisted others to lie for him. And considering the Jones lawsuit was about sexual harassment, and Jones’s lawyers were trying to establish a practice and pattern of sexual misconduct to win their civil suit, this was no side issue. And yet, Clinton was not indicted. Robert Ray, the last of the independent counsels in the case, settled the case

yep, i remember the waste of tax payers money and hours and hours and hours of time the republican congress spent on all the "gates" they created on the Clintons... yes sir ee, I sure do....

You mean The Starr Chamber?

I kinda think it was a big reason the 90's were good for the average person.
The repubs were maniacially after Clinton and the dems were defending him, so they did not have much time to screw over us.

Actually Bill Clinton had Janet Reno begin the investigation.

The History Place - Impeachment: Bill Clinton

The first major Clinton scandal involved the White House travel office and came to be popularly known as "Travelgate." In May 1993, seven long-time employees in the office were abruptly fired and replaced with friends of the Clintons from Arkansas. The FBI then investigated the fired employees, leading to allegations the investigation was being conducted under pressure from the White House solely to justify the firings.

Next, in July, a personal tragedy for the Clintons occurred as Vince Foster, Deputy White House Counsel, and life-long friend of the President, was found shot dead in a park just outside Washington from an apparent suicide.

Huge controversy erupted five months later when it was revealed that federal investigators had been denied access to Foster's White House office, but that Clinton aides had entered the office within hours of Foster's death. Speculation arose in the media that documents related to the Whitewater Development Corporation might have been removed. A month before his death, Foster had filed three years of delinquent Whitewater corporate tax returns.

The Whitewater controversy would eventually spark a federal investigation of President Clinton and the First Lady, that through a strange and remarkable series of political maneuverings and personal failings, would ultimately lead to the first-ever impeachment of an elected President.

David Hale is a former Arkansas municipal judge, a former Arkansas banker, and a self proclaimed Bill Clinton political supporter—though he never made substantial contributions to any of his campaigns. He alleged the charges that resulted in the Whitewater scandal trials. He worked with Jim McDougal on $3 million in loans from a lending company he ran. He pled guilty and went to jail for conspiring to defraud the Small Business Administration in looting the funds from a dummy business he established [1]. He was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for fraud unrelated to the Whitewater deal. As part of his guilty plea in looting money from an insurance company, he provided the allegations for the Whitewater scandal, and testimony for its investigators [2]. He testified in the trial of Jim and Susan McDougal in 1989 when the Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan originally failed, and never mentioned Clinton in a detailed account of the $300,000 loan at that time [3]. It was not until Hale came under Indictment on other charges that he alleged any crime by Clinton.
Hale testified in U.S. District Court that Gov. Bill Clinton pressured him to make a fraudulent $300,000 loan and that he not be named in the loan. On June 23, 1994 Eugene Fitzhugh pleaded guilty to trying to bribe David Hale.

The Kenneth Starr investigation
In August 1994, Kenneth Starr was appointed by a three-judge panel to continue the Whitewater investigation, replacing Robert B. Fiske, who had been specially appointed by the Attorney General prior to the re-enactment of the Independent Counsel law. Fiske was replaced because he had been chosen and appointed by Janet Reno, Clinton's Attorney General, creating an apparent conflict of interest

Caught In The Whitewater Net - CBS News

Caught In The Whitewater Net
Font size PrintE-mailShare.(CBS)

The prime quarry of investigators, who started work in 1994, were President Clinton and his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Mr. Clinton was cleared of any wrongdoing by special prosecutor Kenneth Starr in November and Mrs. Clinton has not been charged.

Our Full Coverage
of this Ongoing Story
Nevertheless, the investigation resulted in 14 convictions and two acquittals. The last six indictments, handed down in April, were dismissed by a judge in July.

Caught in the Whitewater net were:

Webster Hubbell. A Clinton friend from Arkansas and former law partner of Mrs. Clinton, Hubbell held the number three job in the Justice Department when the Whitewater probe began. He pleaded guilty on Dec. 6, 1994, to mail fraud and tax evasion and admitted stealing almost $400,000 from his clients and partners in Little Rock's Rose Law Firm. He was sentenced to 21 months in jail in a plea-bargain deal in which he agreed to cooperate with investigators. He has reportedly provided prosecutors with little information, while at the same time working at a variety of jobs obtained for him by friends of Mr. Clinton. This has led to accusations that Hubbell's silence was bought and to new indictments, announced April 30, accusing Hubell, his wife, his lawyer and his tax accountant of tax evasion. These have been dismisssed. But Hubbell was arraigned Nov. 23 on a third set of charges filed by Starr.

James McDougal

James McDougal. A Clinton friend and Whitewater business partner, McDougal operated Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan. He was convicted in May 1996 of 18 felony counts related to bad loans made by Madison, which failed in the late 1980s at a considerable cost to taxpayers. McDougal agreed to cooperate with prosecutors against Mr. Clinton, but not until after his conviction. He died in prison in March.

Susan McDougal

Susan McDougal. With her former husband, James, Mrs. McDougal was a partner in the Whitewater land deal and in Madison Guaranty. She was convicted in 1996 of four felony fraud counts. She now is serving a two-year sentence. Unlike her ex-husband, she refused to cooperate with the Whitewater prosecutors and was senteced to 18 months in jail on a civil contempt charge. She completed that jail term earlier this year, but still has refused to answer questions before a grand jury. On May 4, she was charged with criminal contempt and obstruction of justice.

Larry Kuca. A business associate of the McDougals, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in connection with a federally backed loan. He was sentenced to probation and community service.

Robert Palmer. A land appraiser in Little Rock, Palmer was accused of filing false papers in connection with Madison Guaranty. He was sentenced to probation in 1994.

Jim Guy Tucker

Governor Jim Guy Tucker President Clinton's successor as Arkansas governor, Tucker resigned after his conviction in May 1996 on mail fraud and conspiracy charges. He was sentenced to probation. Facing separate conspiracy and income-tax evasion charges in connection with a sham bankruptcy and cable-television system sale, Tucker pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with investigators.

William Marks Former business partner of Tucker, Marks was charged in 1997 in connection with the sham bankruptcy with which he and Tucker allegedly tried to hide profits and avoid income tax on the sale of a cable television station. He agreed to cooperate with investigators. In return, several charges against him were dropped.

John Haley A lawyer for Tucker, Haley was accused with Marks and Tucker in the bankruptcy and cable TV station transactions. He pleaded guilty in February to a misdemeanor charge of failing to provide correct information to the government

Eugene Fitzhugh. A lawyer and businessman, Fitzhugh was one of the first to be accused in 1994. He pleaded guilty to trying to bribe Hale. In exchanged for his plea, he was sentenced to 28 months, and prosecutors dropped charges accusing him of conspiring to defraud the Small Business Administration.

Charles Matthews. An Arknsas businessman and colleague of Fitzhugh, Mathews was accused with Fitzhugh of trying to defraud the Small Business Administration. He pleaded guilty instead to misdemeanor bribery charges and was sentenced to 16 months.

David Hale

David Hale. A former municipal judge and businessman in Little Rock, Hale was the star witness in independent counsel Ken Starr's first Whitewater trial. He served a jail term for conspiring to defraud the SBA. With his guilty plea, he agreed to cooperate with investigators. He testified against the McDougals and has told prosecutors Mr. Clinton pressured him into making a suspect loa to Susan McDougal. Hale's testimony has come under question with reports that he obtained cash from a conservative group with ties to special Whitewater prosecutor Starr. Hale trial this summer on state charges was delayed by illness.

Stephen Smith. A former Clinton aide, Smith pleaded guilty in 1995 to lying about a federally backed loan he obtained from Hale.

Christopher Wade. An Arkansas businessman and real estate agent, Wade pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud in 1995.

Neal Ainley. An Arkansas banker, Ainley pleaded guilty in 1995 to concealing cash payments to Mr. Clinton's campaign.

THE OIL FACTOR IN SOMALIA

FOUR AMERICAN PETROLEUM GIANTS HAD AGREEMENTS WITH THE AFRICAN NATION BEFORE ITS CIVIL WAR BEGAN. THEY COULD REAP BIG REWARDS IF PEACE IS RESTORED

By MARK FINEMAN
DATELINE: MOGADISHU, Somalia

Far beneath the surface of the tragic drama of Somalia, four major U.S. oil companies are quietly sitting on a prospective fortune in exclusive concessions to explore and exploit tens of millions of acres of the Somali countryside.

That land, in the opinion of geologists and industry sources, could yield significant amounts of oil and natural gas if the U.S.-led military mission can restore peace to the impoverished East African nation.

According to documents obtained by The Times, nearly two-thirds of Somalia was allocated to the American oil giants Conoco, Amoco, Chevron and Phillips in the final years before Somalia's pro-U.S. President Mohamed Siad Barre was overthrown and the nation plunged into chaos in January, 1991. Industry sources said the companies holding the rights to the most promising concessions are hoping that the Bush Administration's decision to send U.S. troops to safeguard aid shipments to Somalia will also help protect their multimillion-dollar investments there.
