President Bush has weaken the United States national defense and security unlike any other President. The government’s first response to rescue the victims of Hurricane Katrina is a good example. Louisiana State National Guard has seventeen helicopters with fitheen them in Iraq during Hurricane Katrina as well as their fleet of platoon boats. Over three thousand of Louisiana first response personnel were in Iraq during Hurricane Katrina with much of the state equipment needed for disaster relief.

Those in politics who profit from wars and disasters such as Halliburton - Cheney and Bechtel - George Shultz are undermining the national security of the United States. The hundreds of billions of dollars the United States government spends in the name of national defense goes into the pockets of a very few corporations. At what level does a conflict of interest arise between a person position in private life and a person holding a high-level government position dealing with the company of your former employer.

George Bush ran for President saying he was going to raise the moral standards in government and cut federal government spending. When in reality as President he has miss led the American people into a War of Choice while sending the national debt sky high weakening the nations national security. The State National Guards are the first responders in a time of national crisis. Hurricane Katrina a nature disaster of biblical proportion that had been predicted and contemplated by many people for years happened. One million Americans made homeless with 65% to 70% of the first responders with only 50% of their equipment at home. The people of Louisiana and Mississippi face a challenge like never before in American. Many people today in Iraq can understand and relate to the conditions of the people in the Gulf region first hand.

It's hard to understand why the "National Guard" is overseas. They're not the "International Guard".

Bush has increased defense spending, Clinton cut it.... cutting defense spending weakens national security.

The Federal Government cannot mobilize the National Guard until after the governor of a state requests it be done first.

There was an evacuation plan in place at the local and state level and it wasn't followed....

Why don't you mention all those troops in Kosovo that Clinton sent back in 1994 "for a year" and are still there?????

If you and your buddies are so concerned about the number of soldiers currently in the armed forces, why don't you all enlist?

The answer is so obvious, isn't it? You're repeating what your masters tell you to repeat.

Haliburton was contracted by the government because it is one of the few corporations that is capable of providing the services on the scale required. The Clinton Administration also contracted Haliburton to support disasters and operations in Kosovo....

The profits on the hundreds of billions of dollars that the US government spends on defense is limited by law, the profits go to the share holders of defense contractors, just like it does for other non-defense related corporations.

It's time to stop repeating what Michael Moore has told you and your brainwashed bretheren to say and start thinking for yourself. Have you bothered reading any books lately? (comic books don't count)

The moral standards of government were raised the moment the Clintons left the White House.

Misled the American public? If you're referring to the war in Iraq, President Bush was acting on the best intelligence that he had available. If he hadn't acted on it and there were WMDs in Iraq and they were used against us... morons like you would be the first to to squawk.

Catastrophes like the Katrina HAD been predicted and contemplated for years, during the Clinton administration..... many Democrats voted down funding for improving levee construction in Louisianna.... how does that translate into being Bush's fault?

By the way, disasters of biblical proportions have happened in American History before. Hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes did their damage. In all cases, people evacuated in as orderly a fashion as could be expected, supplies and relief were flown in. Natural disasters have happened on Bush's watch, too and were dealt with. What was so different this time? It happened in New Orleans, the local government didn't make evacuations mandatory, law and order were allowed to deteriorate to the point that New Orleans became a mini-Fallujah. That wasn't the Federal Government's doing, that was the doings of the Democratic governor of Louisianna and the Democratic mayor of New Orleans.

Furthermore, Leftists like you couldn't care less whether all the people of New Orleans drowned like rats, what you people actually care about is that this gives you another opportunity to attack Bush and the war in Iraq. It is also my opinion that if New Orleans were inhabited solely by members of the Religious Right, bastards like you would be cheering and claiming that God was punishing them for being homophobic and for opposing a woman's right to choose.....

Wrapping yourself yourself in the flag or in self righteous indignation is tantamount to a wolf wearing sheep's clothing.... You think you're fooling us, but man, you're just fooling yourself.....

Yeah, we don't actually pay soliders or buy crucial defense equipment with those dollars. :tank:

Lord help the USA if libs get the power to gut our national defense the way they want to. We will be the United States of Arabia in a heartbeat.
