Religious Morals vs. Societal Expectations

I do know that lots of people bang the "no sex before marriage" drum. I get it.

But don't you think it would be odd if you knew a young teenager, perhaps your own son, who came to you all upset because his girlfriend dumped him because he didn't want to have sex just yet?

I actually wouldn't think it was odd or abnormal. Well, it might be atypical, but I wouldn't see it as a sign of anything else. His choice, really.

How many people who follow this moral code would actually not try to tease this person? It goes so against the expectations of society.

(Oh, and if anyone tries to say I'm talking about myself here, just know that my own history is more pitiful, according to society's expectations. I've never had a girlfriend or boyfriend, actually.)
