Why is it the Pope has always been Catholic? Just for once wouldn't it be nice to have a Southern Baptist Pope? Followed maybe by a Jewish Pope? Isn't change supposed to be a good thing?

RCC dogma is, the current Pope can trace back his authority in a direct line through 264 other Popes to St. Peter. Obviously, St. Peter was a Jew just as Jesus Christ was. The RCC did not really exist until the time of Constantine, around the 9th Century. In the 15th Century, the Orthodox split from the RCC. In the next hundred years, the Protestants split away.

How The Catholic Church Started

All this clinging to authority is one reason the RCC has its own version of the Bible.

You better get your money back on that history book!!! Constantine was Emporer during the 4th century and the Orthodox split from the Catholics in the 11th century.
