Like I said you must have spiritual eyes and ears bestowed upon you from God to hear and understand His Word.

no you don't. You just have to have the desire to believe despite evidence just like every sucker who claimed to have seen Elvis at a gas station at 1am in 1982.

I totally agree, but I'd be willing to bet the farm we disagree on the specifics of the self-delusion.:eusa_whistle:

Maybe we can whip out the available evidence and compare those, uh, delusions...

:eusa_whistle:

That would be useful.

I can't speak for Gunny, but I believe the nature of our delusion is many people's inability to accept the reality that one day, they are going to die. And that's it. That's all you get. They are ready to accept any measure of self denial and ignorance to live with the illusion that there is a nice safe special warm white place in the sky where you go when you bite the dust. Please, how can they even take themselves serious. With the invention of religion, these vulnerable people were taken advantage of... and forced to live in a form of spiritual slavery and obey all authority with complete submission. Religion is a pretty sweet deal for the people on top. OBEDIENT WORKERS. OBEDIENT WORKERS. OBEDIENT WORKERS.

Your wrong. All is given from God. God is sovereign. Be careful for what you say, for all will stand before God in judgement of everything we said or did. Mocking God in any way can bring His wraith down upon you. Man's wisdom is foolishness to God. Humble yourself. Be quick to listen and slow to speak.

Yeah right. Must be painful living your life in fear of somebody who says they love you unconditionally but will send you to the depths of hell for even a minor discretion. What a just and likable god you have interpreted for yourself...NOT!

That's all fine and dandy as your opinion. It is however, no more valid than any other opinion. That is unless you are going to provide evidence that proves your "going to die and that's it" theory.

Problem is, those of you who think you're so much more smarter than the rest can't allow someone their opinion and have a civil discussion on the topic without tossing condescending insults, but never addressing the points made.

I've been waiting since the first time I ever engaged in this argument for someone to explain how scientifcally, "something" can be created from "nothing." Nothing being an absolute. No one ever has because you can't. That would mean that particular theory of origin defies the very thing (science) people claim supports it.

If you want to deny God, by all means do so. I don't care if you worship your bunny. But don't be telling me what to think or what's rigth when you have no more REAL evidence to support your fairy tale than I do mine.

As far as "obedient workers" goes ... your brand of socialist ideology smack of nothing more nor less. It just solves the problem of individual choice by taking instead of asking.

There is only one unforgiveable sin, and a minor indiscretion against Man it is not.

One little thing dopey...

The life of Jesus is documented fact....It was recorded by the jews... the best record keepers in the history of the mankind...
And they don't consider him to be divine.

Methinks you need to CC this to Zoomie....

Really? I heard there was a multitude of sins....

There are a multitude of sins. There is only one unforgiveable sin.

But your comment hits the nail on the head. IMO, most people who deny religion do so because the the rules inconvenience their desires. Moreso than any other argument has any more or less basis in fact.

Kinda like the Iran enriching uranium to build nuclear weapons argument. It's inconvenient as Hell to actually DO something about it, so screw 'em, they don't have any. What's not there isn't a problem.

The only reason I deny religion is because it makes no sense or logic. Has nothing to do with my desires at all....

That's your choice. I come to different conclusion. IMO, a Creator is far more logical than an unscientific "scientific" theory.

Let me ask you this .... do you think Man on Earth is the only life in the universe, and/or the omly or most intelligent life?

I find it illogical that anyone can believe a being is responsible for all the universe (shrug)..

No, man is not the only life in our GALAXY let alone the universe. And it is far from the most intelligent. Do I think the more intelligent beings are a result of a god? hell no!

But all that "God" REALLY has to be is a life form beyond Man's capablity to comprehend, who is described BY Man within his ability to comprehend at the time.

Just a hypothetical, but STILL more logical than something being created from nothing.

Very true. And that could be the case. I believe nature is a "god". Not some old man with a grey beard sitting on the clouds, which is what the vast majority of Christians believe.

Am I a god because I can go out and shoot animals in pens? I have the ability of life or death over them, and I'm pretty sure it is hard for them to comprehend what is going on. Just because you have command over your surrounds doesn't mean you are a god, it just means you have command...

Actually, most Chrisitians don't think "God" is an old Man with a grey beard sitting in the clouds. That's just how he was depicted by some. In the Bible, he appears in many guises, but only in the very beginning does it reference his image (by stating he created Adam in his own image).

"God" is a label given by man. By whatever name you choose, if such a life force existed, then I would say having the power to create life trumps your shooting the pigs.;)
