Reid apologizes for 'no Negro dialect' comment- Why should he?

Obama in '02: 'The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott'

In light of President Obama's decision to forgive Harry Reid's remarks about Obama's skin color and lack of a "Negro dialect," check out what Obama said about Trent Lott in 2002:

Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D-13th), who hosted WVON's Cliff Kelley Show, challenged the Republican Party to repudiate Lott's remarks and to call for his resignation as senate leader.

"It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do," said Obama.

He said: "The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party."

Latecoming...

:)

peace...

What Reid said and what Lott said are not comparable.

But in your last post you agree with Reid. That would make you racist.

The Irony is Lost on you...

Observing that America isn't Ready to Vote for an Al Sharpton, but is Ready for a "Clean and Articulate" Person of Half Color, isn't Racist... Unless a Rightwing White Person Observes it...

What Harry said was True... He's Apologizing for what he Believes...

That's Concerning.

:)

peace...

He apologized for a poor choice of words, not for being a racist. So either your thread title is a lie, or you and he are equally racist.

he apologized because he was found out.

One was said in private, the other said at a party for a politician...two different scenarios and two different sets of standards IMO......

yeah, it's perfectly okay to be a racist in private, isn't it?

two different sets of standards wouldn't by any chance be the same as a double standard, would it?

oh, heaven's no, reid's a democrat.

there's never been a racist democrat.

What did he say that is racist?

You can't say Negro....you can't say African-american...you can't say Black....you can't say...shit.

Damn.....I'm glad I'm a member of an ethnic group that doesn't carry their civil rights around on our sleeves daring anyone to knock them off.

But what can you expect when you spend your entire life playing the victim. And this is because their entire community is raised on being uptight about the color of their skin...like there's something negative about it.

Right....it was their intentions that matter, not what they said. Course we really can't read their minds. We can only go on the picture the media painted for us. So we can't think for ourselves and decide what their intentions might have been.

Why Harry Reid decided to say that stupid shit was obvious.....he's an idiot who harbors realistic but stereotypical beliefs about blacks in America. Trent Lott however was trying to be nice to an old fart and didn't think about what he was saying. Who was more guilty of something...Who was guilty of anything in this case. Why do we have to be so touchy about this. I hear worse on "Def-Comedy Jam" every day. Wanna hear some racist comments just listen to a Black Comedian. They make Harry Reid and Trent Lott look like Mother Theresa.
