Refusing To Submit To Muslims: Rex Tillerson Refuses To Host Ramadan Event At State Department

“We are still exploring possible options for observance of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the month of Ramadan. U.S. ambassadors are encouraged to celebrate Ramadan through a variety of activities, which are held annually at missions around the world.”

Tillerson issued a statement on Friday to mark the start of Ramadan, which he called “a month of reverence, generosity, and self-reflection.”

“Most importantly, it is a cherished time for family and friends to gather and give charity to those who are less fortunate,” he said.

It must be awkward for you trying to please republicans and defend Islam at the same time.

True......there aren't many American muslims who vote Republican, but it wasn't always that way.

Most muslims were in the Republican camp before baby Bush invaded Iraq in response for 911. That plus the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, the totalitarian Gitmo confinement of people with no charges filed, and other issues.

Unfortunately, many GOP leaders spewed anti-muslim rhetoric towards innocent American muslims during that time period. While the Democrats extended a welcoming hand; and many muslims accepted their friendship.

So today, we have the paradox of muslims befriending the Democrats; whom they have nothing in common with.

And rejecting the Republicans, who would be their natural allies on many social and political issues. .....

Many republicans here keep insisting that Muslims are on the Left .. I've always said they're very Conservative.

You are correct.

American muslims for the most part are very conservative. They are also capitalistic, as many own businesses and believe in hard work. And they want their children to go to school, get an education, and become good productive citizens.

I would like to see them return to the Republican camp where they belong. But the anti-muslim rhetoric of many GOP leaders makes that almost impossible anytime soon. ....
