Apparently Reed's wife and older daughter' vehicle was rear ended at a high rate of speed. Neither are said to have life threatening injuries but NBC (local DC news) has reported Mrs Reed's back and neck were broken.

Does not say what the Reid's were driving but I hope it was big. It almost does not matter as the weight ratio between a car and a semi (with loaded trailer) is about the same as between a car and a bicycle.

The night my mom had a heart attack my dad came home, some men can't handle these situations. If he did return I am guessing it wasn't because he didn't care, it was probably because he didn't know what to do with himself.
My thoughts are with him and his family, and hopefully they make a fast recovery.
