Looks like this movie rec'd bad reviews. I still want to take my kids to see it though. Anyone else plan to see this movie?

Is Catherine Hardwicke's 'Red Riding Hood' Just Another 'Twilight'?.

The lights dim, and after the usual litany of company banners, a camera sweeps over a gorgeous, mountainous landscape. The viewer is immediately thrust into a world that's not metropolitan; this is the look of a nearly untouched terrain of trees. In voiceover, a young girl outlines the particular details of this setting and story before we're greeted by her younger self and her best boy friend. Together, they fling-fall themselves into the grass of a lush, flower-ridden meadow. They're bound by the hunt, but just bunnies, not the werewolves who lurk nearby.

Mix in a few more ingredients like sparkly vampires and melancholy lethargy and this would be the world of 'The Twilight Saga.' But it's not -- it's Catherine Hardwicke's latest, 'Red Riding Hood.'

My one line review:

Yet more soft core porn being merchandised to teenage girls.

Well you are right on target with this reviewer's opinion. Another article...

'Red Riding Hood' an angsty take on fairy tale

Red Riding Hood" aims not for little girls who want to hear a fairy tale before they go to sleep at night, but rather for teenage girls who want a soapy melodrama full of angst and hair product — with some supernatural flourishes thrown in, just to make things extra sexy.

Does that sound vaguely familiar to you? It should. "Red Riding Hood" suggests what it might look like if the kids from "Twilight" got dressed up and went to the Renaissance Faire. And that is not a good thing.

Lol...well maybe it's not for the younger kids, but I'll bet the older girls love it.

Shadow, have your kids seen the 10th kingdom? For pure family fun it can't be beat, and it's long as it was a miniseries.

I absolutely love that show....

Yes...I love that miniseries. Scott Cohen as the wolf...a take off on all the fairytales. It's really good.

MIAMI -- Mayor Carlos Alvarez was ousted Tuesday by voters angry over a property tax rate increase and salary raise for county employees in a county struggling to recover from the recession.

With 100 percent of precinct votes counted, 88 percent voted to oust the mayor, making Miami-Dade the most populous area, with more than 2.5 million people, ever to recall a local official. Just 12 percent of the 204,500 who cast ballots were in favor of allowing Alvarez to finish his second term, which ends in 2012.

Alvarez said he was confident the county's professional staff will work hard to ensure a smooth transition to a new administration.

"It has been an honor and privilege to serve this community for the past 35 years," Alvarez said in a statement. "The voters have spoken and a time of healing and reconciliation must now begin."
