Recent Polling Shows Obama Slide

According to Zogby, Obama's approval rating has dipped below 50%, while Rasmussen has recorded the lowest Obama presidential approval ratings to date.

It's indeed sad that Obama has served 2 months in office and has already been judged by some as incompetent. After all, the stock market peaked at 14,164 on October 9th of last year and has gone down ever since, but Obama has failed to restore enough confidence to drive it back to that level. He has failed to put people back to work, save our financial and auto industries, end the wars, or lovingly embrace his Republican opponents.

The standard presidential four-year term of office should be reduced to just four months. That's apparently the maximum tolerance limit anymore unless a president first sits down in the Oval Office with a surplus budget to work with during peacetime.

And btw, Rasmussen is still riding on its laurels from getting just ONE right back in 2004. Since then, Scott has returned to doing his polling AFTER all the others are published, so that he knows exactly which demographic (Republicans) to hit. The Rasmussen methodology is biased. It always has been.[/B]

Wow! You've only been here for four posts and your popularity has dove down to shit for brains.

I think he's very competent at what he is doing. Unfortunatley, I feel he's going in the wrong direction for this country.

Strangely enough, some of us were intelligent enough to know hussein was an empty suit long before he was ever elected.

LOL ... and this link is supposed to be an indictment of Obama ... a poll that shows that the country believes the country is going in the right direction the longer Obama has been in office?

What's next ... polls that show Michelle at 73% is more popular than Obama is at 69%?

Is the nation headed in the right or wrong direction?
right direction wrong direction
March 23 45% 47%
March 5 40% 45%
Jan. 26 36% 48%
Jan. 8 14% 70%

The movement toward "right direction" from January 8, prior to the Obama Inauguration, to January 26 came from Obama voters, and that has continued. For example, these are the increases in those choosing "right direction" between the March 5 poll and this most recent one: Democrats +9, Obama voters +8, liberals +7 and African-Americans +13.

There are books on the shelves already that discuss the criminal actions and general incompetence of Bush appointees. I know you are aware; just laughed ...

These polls don't mean shit right now. However, polls one year from now will tell us quite a bit as we will only be seven months out from midterm elections.

Of course they don't but the Repiubs after losing control of Congress in 2006 and the Presidency in 2008 have nothing else to hold on to. So they look for any poll that seems to show that Obama is going down ... even if as this poll shows ... the voters confidence in his policies is actually rising. Go figure.

The truth is nobody knows how all of this is going to play out. Maybe all this spending will help out some. Then again, it may actually make things worse. We don't know. In the end, what many are starting to realize is that no matter what, we're spending an awful lot of money that we don't have, and that is getting a lot of people concerned. Because of that, Obama's numbers are coming down somewhat. But again, it really doesn't matter at the moment. If the economy shows signs of turning around before the 2010 elections, then the Dems will be sitting pretty, at least most likely. On the other hand, if things get worse, and there is no sign of recovery, watch out.

And that goes without saying ... Bush's polls dropped all the way until 9/11, which gave him and the Repubs a boost in the next two elections. It finally took Katrina to wake up the voters to his incompetency. While inspite of what Cheney says ... I don't expect Obama will get that same kind of boost ... he will have to do it the old fashioned way. And as you have pointed out ... his real grades will come out in the 2010 midterms ... it is actually the Repubs on this board looking for polls that will just prove it sooner!

No, it isn't. It's not a partisan thing at all. It's simply people with a brain that aren't impressed by empty, soaring rhetoric and lies.

"People with a brain" are not promoting petitions requesting the public release of the president's birth certificate.

And I agree with Jim. There's no other reason Repubs would be touting polls that purportedly demonstrate falling approval rates for the president.

Too bad. If you can't take the truth, then put me on ignore. I'm not here to win a popularity contest.

Considering polls for the last year of the Bush presidency consistently showed two-thirds of the nation IN ALL POLLS strongly believing the country was going in the wrong direction, that drop becomes even more significant.

You have it right. And Obama has said several times that if things get worse because of his programs, you can elect a new president. In the meantime, he has also said that some things will work, and some things will not. He has never guaranteed 100% success.

As for the new fiscal budget which includes spending for energy, health care and education, too many people aren't getting the fact that we as a nation lag behind in those critical areas and that the money (that we don't have right now) is really an investment in the future. "Spending" shouldn't be confused with "investing." It's a no-brainer.

Of course some specifics would help. Then we could counter your claims of, but it's impossible to argue against, er, empty rhetoric.

The Obamas are a big hit over here in the UK, especially the first Lady, she has been giving some inspirational speeches to the kids.
