Reality TV: Why it's a partisan issue

The popularity of reality tv, as it's called, is dismaying to liberal media elitists. But they're still sick to death that fox cashed in first, behind mtv, of course. The number one ingredient in 99% of all reality tv shows is competition. We all know liberals really don't understand competition; at least in the context of market forces, they're woefully ignorant. This competition, in turn, is what drives people to display the full gamut of human interaction in an effort to manipulate , compete with, and ally with each other.. These are real people, acting for the most part, how real people act. I must say however that most of the contestants are young, beautiful, vain, selfcentered, and volatile. Well adjusted people are just not as fun to watch. Who remembers Norman from season one of MTV's real world?

The libs will say: why this is no better than the base human urge to watch a train wreck and is therefore immoral. To them I say, "no, it's a fairly real unfoldment of real human emotion and drama". And then I ask"You look at train wrecks, don't you." Then they usually lie and say they don't.

Also, these shows are putting writers who usually write the shit dialogue, right out of business. Oh yeah, and those are liberal writers.

Which do you like best: train wrecks with chemical explosions, or simple derailments? :D

I have no problems at all. I love "reality tv", libs hate anything that is economically successful, which they think shouldn't be. They think they and their liberal ideas are the shit. anything else, they think, should be outlawed, or at least disdained.

I'm not fussy about reality tv, or anything on tv for that matter. However, I do have a weakness for the Supranoe's (spelling??). In the end, it's a person's choice to go on these shows. If I watch porn, am I supposed to care about the man/woman's personal history or.....well you know:D

I am fussy about it. I like to explain to people who hate why I like it. And then watch them flail around to explain why they hate it. Of course they don't say they think they're supposed to hate it because it's lowbrow. Such sheep.

And I love the soprano's too!

I can just picture rtwngavngr plopping down on his couch with a box full of twinkies and a liter of dr.pepper ready for the next episode of the littlest groom and the latest copy of ann coulter's column ready for the commercials.

Lowbrow, degrading to women, show American's in a bad light blah, blah blah. That is assuming all people viewing are idiots. Look at the ratings, some of those people are not telling the truth anyway. As for myself, I don't have the attention span for much these days, but I do tune in at the end to see the final few contestants.

Yes. Yes. You know of which I speak. Libs do assume everyone is an idiot. They're unable to step outside of their habitual thought patterns, though I'm NOT calling them closeminded, mind you.

Reality TV is garbage, and having never watched it I can say I hate it.

TV, in general, is garbage.

The only reason liberals would be against reality TV is because so many actors are liberals and reality TV doesn't require actors. Otherwise, the liberals are quite content to have you sit in front of your TV and slowly become more lazy, apathetic, and stupid.

I agree. I choose not to watch reality tv or much of any tv these days with the exception of a few channels. I have that choice and yes most of what tv offers today is garbage.
I watch court tv / a&e and that is pretty much it. After that I flip through the other channels like stepping over trash. The reality tv is boring to me, comedy is no longer funny - drama is the same old story lines - there are more award shows for various careers in show business than there are careers in show business and they are all the same and a complete yawn. Nothing else I gather.

Except that is not always the effect tv has. It has a lot of valuable thought provoking stuff too. But i understand, it's cool to hate tv. Sorry Zhuky.

A&E seems to be losing their edge. How many episodes of American Justice can you watch? Biographies can be great, but ENOUGH already, find another niche. Between American Justice, City Confidential and Biographies, there isn't much left anymore.

The only tv I watch is Hardball then Oreilly. It doesn't resemble reality at all. They go through a casting process where they pick really weird people and one gay guy to live in a made up environment with cameras surrounding them.

Jerry Springer... the original Reality TV!!!

Today on Springer: I cheated on my boyfriend! With his two brothers! To get revenge! Check out my hooters!

Yes. Jerry is the king for all times. This show is most like watching a train wreck of all of them. My schpiel on why I like jerry is this: The people on this show are a warning to us all of what happens when family values and personal responsibility fall by the wayside. Jerry's the Catcher in the Rye.

Does anyone remember Jerry back in the day? Back when he was trying to be a little more like Oprah. I used to watch Jerry when I got off work around 3am about 10 yrs ago, it wasn't that bad.
