Real Racism: A History of the Democratic Party

And that is the conclusion of fail of TK's thread.. Yes, your denying and crying is expected from a racist reactionary. Game. Set. Match.

These irrelevant reactionary butts are fun to kick. The GOP mainstream has caught on to their BS. At the national level, no birtherism, no more anti-gay crap, no more anti-female nonsense, no more anti-immigrant hatred. No more Palins and Ryans.

We tried it the far right reactionary way and got our asses kicked. No more. We will beat the Dems the mainstream way.

We need the mainstream far more than the far right.

Republicans are not losing elections like you love to say.
332 to 206 electoral vote defeat, two more losses in the Senate that says Democrat, several losses shrinking our House majority, women who vote against us 55%, single women 66%, minorities by whopping super majorities, and a Hispanic wave that will swamp Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona by 2024 if not before.

What dream world do you live in? The governors and the reps are going to go steadily to the Dems, if we don't understand the demographic change is a sea tide against us.

You live in la la land all you want, but your way is gone forever with the mainstream.

Once again Conservatives, whose ideology has no room for civil rights, hide behind the skirts of the Republican Party for ideological cover. While Republicans have been champions of civil rights legislation, Conservatives have not. Be they Democrats from the Old South or Republicans from the Sun Belt, the Conservative in them prevents them from acting on behalf of minorities.

Don't you folks know the difference between ideology and party affiliation?

Now it's conservatives, those evil little white guys...

You cannot debate the issue TK brought to the table, and for the umpteenth time a liberal wants to change the identity to fit their agenda...

Tell me how many Conservative Democrats are out there that you know of?

None, now there are plenty of moderates, but Conservative, none...

It's too simple for your analytical brain, please do not breed...

Let me pose this to you:

Who do you suppose enforced Jim Crow laws in the South? Tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, Kumbya-singing Liberals? Folks like Gov. George Wallace (D) Alabama, Gov. Lester Maddox (D) Georgia, Sen. Strom Thurmond (D) South Carolina, Sen. James o. Eastland (D) Mississippi? You suppose these guys held the same "agenda" as a modern Democrat?

And yes is was Republican support that made the Civil Rights Act a reality. But not Conservative Republican support.

The fight was, and continues to be, a regrettably partisan affair. No American should have to petition and wait for his guaranteed and unique American rights. Why do you suppose Conservatives always fight civil rights?

The Republicans have fought for the disadvantaged for a lot longer than the Democrats, it pales in comparison...

Jim Crow starts in the North, not in the south...

The North ran the Slave Trading, The South used the slave...

You need to do a little more research...

This set of information is found on the website for the 1898 Wilmington Race Riot and compiled by Henry L. Melton, Editor with the 1898 Wilmington Institute For Education and Research.

The site is a wonderful resource for race relations from less well known sources and adds a much needed perspective on this month's topic of Jim Crow Laws through the use of primary and secondary sources. A jewel in the internet information overload out there!

The Origins of "Jim Crow" Laws:
“One of the strangest things about the career of Jim Crow was that the system was born in the North and reached an advanced age before moving South in force.”

C. Vann Woodward, The Strange Career of Jim Crow

The "Jim Crow" system is erroneously blamed on the Southern States, as well as erroneously claimed to have begun in 1898. This excerpt is from "The Real Lincoln, A New Look at Abraham Lincoln, Thomas J. DiLorenzo, Forum Books, 2002, pp. 25-28:

(In the early to mid-1800's) "The overwhelming majority of white Northerners cared little about the welfare of the slaves, and treated blacks who lived among them with contempt, ridicule, discrimination and sometimes violence. As Eugene Berwanger wrote in North of Slavery, as of 1860,

"In virtually every phase of existence (in the North), Negroes found themselves systematically seperated from whites. They were either excluded from railway cars, omnibuses, stagecoaches and steamboats, or assigned to special "Jim Crow" sections; they sat, when permitted, in secluded and remote corners of theatres and lecture halls; they could not enter most hotels, restaurants and resorts, except as servants; they prayed in "Negro pews" in the white churches, and if partaking of the sacrement of the Lord's Supper, they waited until the whites had been served the bread and wine. Morover, they were educated in segregated schools, punished in segregated prisons, nursed in segregated hospitals, and buried in segregated cemeteries....

This is just the beginning...

Unlike you and any fools you know, Lee Atwater worked fro Ronald Reagan and others . Lee Atwater crafted winning racist campaigns that most likely targeted you and the people you claim to know.

Like most far right scum, Lee Atwater later publicly begged and prayed for forgiveness but....

Ed Rollins, however, stated in the 2008 documentary Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story, that "[Atwater] was telling this story about how a Living Bible was what was giving him faith and I said to Mary (Matalin), 'I really, sincerely hope that he found peace.' She said, 'Ed, when we were cleaning up his things afterwards, the Bible was still wrapped in the cellophane and had never been taken out of the package,' which just told you everything there was. He was spinning right to the end."

btw, Lee was 1 of 2 GOP Chairmen to apologize and admit to a racist Southern Strategy. Thought you knew the other was Ken Mehlman;

It was called "the southern strategy," started under Richard M. Nixon in 1968, and described Republican efforts to use race as a wedge issue -- on matters such as desegregation and busing -- to appeal to white southern voters.

Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee chairman, this morning will tell the NAACP national convention in Milwaukee that it was "wrong."

again, it was Southern White Christian Conservatives who played the 'niggar' card all these decades

These men (most of their wives and children were no better) started the KKK, gave us Jim Crow laws, and had to be pardoned for being part of the criminal conspiracy that rose up against the USA and the US Constitution .. the Confederacy
