This is just a side note but self-interest is often villified by the left but self-interest is the motivational feeling behind the desire for freedom. Self-interest makes us want to express ourselves so we have freedom of speech, self-interest makes us want to join groups that we like so we have the freedom of association, self-interest also makes us want money and material objects so we have free-enterprise.

Do you see what I am getting at. Self-interest is frowned on by the left because it motivates us to want freedom.

I think most people are liberal but scratch their head at the liberals that exist today and can't figure out why people who call themselves liberal pass more restrive laws than anyone else and are suspicious of the motives behind them such as legalizing pot, gay marriage, and rights of the children. These are all very clever attempts to destroy the family so they can destroy society and recreate it in their image. There is some very evil people on the left that most democrats are unaware of.

It happens to a LOT of people as they grow up, raise families and drop their idealistic plans to save the world with other people's money.

I voted for Clinton and Al Bore. Once upon a long long time ago.

....before I got married, had kids, moved up the corporate ladder and got taxed to death between myself and my former husband, got divorced, saved for and bought a house post-divorce and dealt with REAL LIFE.

I used to be young and idealistic and wanted to save the world with other people's money too. In fact, I once worked for the current AG of California ....yep, good ole "Gov. Moonbeam" Jerry Brown, back when he ran for President in '92. I was young, single, childless and could travel and do all the stuff the job entailed--I was his advance manager/admin person. I have pictures to prove it....unforttunately, I have no way to scan and post 'em. They're from '92, not digital.

At any rate.....I'm almost 50 now, and I've grown up. A LOT. I know now that some of my former boss' ideas were pretty good--he was the original champion of the FLAT TAX. That was his largest "talking point" in '92.

But a LOT of his ideas were basic socialist pablum, and I'd be unafraid to tell him exactly that. I would, however, be VERY afraid to be in charge of his appointments and drive him there LATE. That man does not tolerate tardiness in ANYONE, but especially himself.

I can assure you that I was once a card carrying DEMOCRAT.....so whatever, you can believe me...or not. I don't care.
