Reagan, worst prez in our lifetime

There has been no "destruction" of the middle class. I see the middle class everywhere I look every single day. While they're feeling the pinch of the current economy, they're still quite vibrant. If you want to know, however, who is doing the most damage to the middle class you and your jealous class warfare buddies only need to look in the mirror.

:cuckoo:

Damn the facts, eh? The middle class will make a come back, but it has been losing ground since Richard Nixon and has gotten progressively worse since Ronald Reagan started the fast slide with Reaganomics/Supply Side voodoo economics

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_inequality_in_the_United_States

Income inequality is what you get when America becomes just another Banana Republic...

There will always be income inequality because by nature there is human inequality. The only way you have income "equality" is through tyranny and oppression which results in everyone being equally poor and miserable except for the .000001% of aristocrats calling the shots at the top, ie. the U.S.S.R., Cuba, North Korea, etc.

The notion that income inequality is a bad thing is a childish one and a sign of intellectual immaturity.

strawman

You misrepresented someone's argument to make it easier to attack.

By exaggerating, misrepresenting, or just completely fabricating someone's argument, it's much easier to present your own position as being reasonable, but this kind of dishonesty serves to undermine honest rational debate

IOW, saying there's too much of one thing need not - and in this case DOES not - mean going totally in the opposite direction as a solution.

What has happened to the middle class?

Wages are stagnant, benefits are gone. Workers put in more hours for less pay. American dream is disappearing. College is unaffordable and doesn't yield a well paying job

Meanwhile, the wealthier are just adding to their wealth

Just like conservatives dreamed

And that decline of the middle class has occurred while government has gotten bigger, both in terms of the share of the economy, and the massive amounts of regulations which micromanage things like the light bulbs we are allowed to by.

Anyone with proper cognitive functions would see the causality relationship, but sadly, you don't fit that requirement.

government has been getting bigger since 1776. keep trying.

Wrong, obamaturd is proving to be the worst.

American Liberals are the laughing stock of every form Soviet satellite. You're too fucking stupid to understand you're rooting for your slavery and poverty.

you are trying to hard defending your messiah.

He freed tens of million in Eastern Europe.

American Left will only realize how stupid they are when they wake up in the field working 14hour days while Greenbeards machine gun toting guards keep watch.

Was it he who started the idea of bailing out non FDIC insured banks?

How about that liberal power to declare war he used.

What else can I pile on....lol.

Reagan is an interesting former New Dealer who grew accustomed of the powers Republicans want to give govenors and took em to the oval office.

Were the auto import caps his? You know, the reason Toyota bothered to build plants in the US where labor was worth the least. Not that I don't even support that but still not a free market hero.

the war powers act existed long before reagan. but i'm not sure why you're raising that. seems kind of silly.

as for the banks? he did other things... he allowed his boy lee atwater to give the radical religious right a seat at the table. and everyone knew that voodoo economics was a curse. the thing is, reagan didn't do what he said. he raised taxes when he needed to. and he'd have laughed at grover norquist and his 'i pledge allegience to the united states of norquist' types.

no matter WHAt he said to stupid people who believed him.

Reagan: Freed tens of million from the dehumanizing experience of Soviet Communism

Obama: Freed tens of millions of Americans from employment to subsist on food stamps and unemployment benefits

Anyone want to add anything?

No way. Bush jnr was not only the worst president in our lifetime, he could possibly be the worst ever.

Raygun was bad, but not THAT bad...

Lefties don't hate Reagan, they just think you wingnuts have elevated him to a far right status that he never ascribed nor achieved.

You're proof: Reagan did not collapse the USSR, it fell upon it's own sword in 1991. Reagan had been out of office for several years by then. George H. W. Bush was president at the time, and he didn't have anything to do with it either.

Uh huh. Sure they did.

Sure they did

Please provide factual dating showing that Reagan "defeated the USSR" or else STFU.

CrusaderFrank, just stop. YOu are getting killed here.

Reagan: Freed tens of million from the dehumanizing experience of Soviet Communism

Obama: Freed tens of millions of Americans from employment to subsist on food stamps and unemployment benefits

Raygun had very little to do with the fall of the SU...very little. He was in the right place at the right time. Elmer Fudd could have been president and the SU was going to fall...

Reagan made the breakup of the USSR the centerpiece of his foreign policy. You're so wrong you're not even in the same universe as correct

That's why the "American" Left hates him

You mean like you wing nuts have elevated Obama to the level of a far left god who walks among us mere mortals.

Gorby just decided to tear down the Berlin Wall, right?

Gorbachev was absolutely crucial to unwinding the curtain. This is why he won Time's "Man of the Year."

Hard liners from both nations were opposed to Reagan/Gorbachev friendship because each nation used the threat of the other nation to maintain control of their global assets.

The Cold War was very much a context for American intervention in the Global South which contained the needed cheap labor and raw material for our economy. Study history. Superpowers always use the threat of evil or unstable regimes to justify intervention in places that contain vital resources. This is why the Cold War had to be replaced by the War on Terrorism. We needed a context for intervening in the world's must vital energy region.

The Cold War was continued long past its due date because it justified the projection of American power into important global regions. This is why the neocons and Pentagon hated the Reagan/Gorbachev partnership. The only people who buy into the Washington narrative for the Cold War are the woman and children back on the homeland.

Man up and learn how global hard ball is played.

He doesn't even make the top three.

1) LBJ: 58,000+ American boys and untold Vietnamese dead over a lost cause, and the saddling of America with the socialistic welfare state morass primarily responsible for the economic mess we're in today.

2) Nixon: As corrupt as they come.

3) Carter: As inept and bungling as they come, though the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania is giving him a real run for the money.
