There was no fight in Lebanon Potter. No stable government. No malitia to get behind. No UN forces willing to fight. No nothing. It was a peace keeping mission. We tried to keep the peace. They didn't want peace. So, fuck 'em!

GW was voted the worst, followed by Obama.

It appears Reaganism is alive and well in America, and coming back in a big way...

This is so funny. The Republicans have been voted the most partisan and destructive political party in the last 50 years. Their track record stands at 100%. There is nothing they have been successful at.
Well, OK, that's not true. they have misled the American people, led the country to two disastrous wars, let Bin Laden go, destroyed the world economy, and convinced the most gullible Americans that "mysticism" is the same as "science".
They have terrified America more than al Qaeda ever has by calling the president everything from Fascist to Socialist to wanting to kill Grandma to even suggesting he might be a pedophile. They have charted unplumbed depths to bring down a sitting president.
Kudos, the Republicans are the worst ever.:clap2:

So for that, they win the very money they created:

Thanks Republican Party. The US gave us Obama, but YOU GAVE US OBAMA BUCKS!

I found that interesting as well.

Poor Truman -still getting the shaft...

Or maybe you just can't read.

Since WWII includes WWII.

Um...no. Since means after.

OMG peacekeeping, you mean like Somalia that Bush Sr sent us into and you guys still blame on clinton, you mean that kind of peace keeping

Liberals forget the reason the Defect was so high was because of the Soviet threat.

For us to beat the USSR we had to compete, and we did and made them go Bankrupt and Communism fell.

While Reagan has its flaws he is still one of the few presidents with integrity and by far one of the greatest Public Speakers.

And full circle, twenty years later, thanks to St. Ronnie and Co, we are now going broke ourselves. There was no real Soviet threat by the 80's anyhow.

You crack me up, you can't even see how partisan you are.

Let's take that last sentence and reconstruct it shall we?

"While Obama had his flaws, he is still one of the few Presidents with integrity and by far one of the greatest Public Speakers."

Now, do you have any real concrete arguments or just emotional ones?

i'm not a big reagan guy, but hindsight is 20/20.

it's like all those "duck and cover" cartoons. they're hilarious now; they weren't so funny when i was 7 and the cuban missile crisis was in full bloom.

at the time in the 80's, i can assure you that as far as anyone knew, the soviet threat was very real.

Remember those air raid sirens?

hey del when we are spending 1/2 our budget on the military and after 6-8 years we are still in Afgan , you know those guys that are pretty much armed with nothing and still in Iraq after daddy Bush destroyed about 90 % of there capacity in 90 , are we really getting any bang for our bucks

short answer:no

long answer:
"Crises there will continue to be. In meeting them, whether foreign or domestic, great or small, there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties. A huge increase in newer elements of our defenses; development of unrealistic programs to cure every ill in agriculture; a dramatic expansion in basic and applied research -- these and many other possibilities, each possibly promising in itself, may be suggested as the only way to the road we wish to travel.

But each proposal must be weighed in the light of a broader consideration: the need to maintain balance in and among national programs, balance between the private and the public economy, balance between the cost and hoped for advantages, balance between the clearly necessary and the comfortably desirable, balance between our essential requirements as a nation and the duties imposed by the nation upon the individual, balance between actions of the moment and the national welfare of the future. Good judgment seeks balance and progress. Lack of it eventually finds imbalance and frustration. The record of many decades stands as proof that our people and their Government have, in the main, understood these truths and have responded to them well, in the face of threat and stress."

i opposed this war in 2002. however, we went in and now must deal with the consequences. there is, IMO, no commonality between the arms race of the post ww2 period through the collapse of the ussr and our involvement in SW asia.

Go back to the 80's.. Ask anybody here, like Del..

Right, blame everything on Bush and Ronnie.

Who's being the Partisan now? :eusa_whistle:

Next thing.. I'm not one of those who despises Obama 100% like some foilks here.. I see the good and bad things from every president, Obama, Clinton, Bush, Ronnie.

So next time when you come with those accusations back them up. :eusa_angel:

I'm placing the blame where it needs to be placed. Our only spending wasn't against the Soviets. I gave you a whole laundry list of what Reagan did wrong. It's your choice to accept that or not.

But I don't see you blaming any Dem President. But if you show me then I apologize respectfully of course.

Reagan did things wrong like any president. Iran-Contra was one of those that make me get pissed off at Ronnie.

But! The Soviet threat was at full swing, we had to do something about it, or i assure you Soviet Russia would've lived longer if not still very well alive.
