What would you want your president saying?
This
Every citizen in this country has a stake in the emergence of the United States as a leader in the free world.

Or this:
In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

Don't forget......

"I am not worried about the deficit. It is big enough to take care of itself."
*
"Facts are stupid things."
*
"Trees cause more pollution than automobiles."

Yeah.....he was quite the deep-thinker.

No kidding.
I don't think having an apologist in the most powerful position in the world...is a good thing, kinda self-explanatory.

Reagan also pandered voodoo economics and the trickle down effect. those seemed to work out really well.

Reagan was also speaking a time during the cold war and the arms race. as Obama was speaking during an economic crisis and the emergence of a global economy.

way to take two completely unrelated quotes and use them out of context. :clap2:

Longest post-war economic expansion. Yes, it did work out well.

Sloshing money from one pocket to another isn't expansion. Neither is growing the debt, overall, more then any modern President, or killing regulation that brought on both a saving and loans crisis and a bond market crisis.

Like changing French Fries to Freedom fries! LMAO

""He then balanced this striking admission with a tough message to Europeans that blaming America and using its actions as an excuse to avoid tackling the global Islamist threat was unacceptable.

"But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual, but can also be insidious. Instead of recognising the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what is bad."

In a speech which his aides billed as a commitment to rebuild transatlantic relations by offering an olive branch directly to young Europeans, he offered himself as the figure who could bridge the gap that had grown over the eight years of President George W. Bush's administration.

"On both sides of the Atlantic, these attitudes have become all too common," he said. "They are not wise. They do not represent the truth. They threaten to widen the divide across the Atlantic and leave us both more isolated.

"They fail to acknowledge the fundamental truth that America cannot confront the challenges of this century alone, but that Europe cannot confront them without America.""

And Reagan, while we all love the handsome Star who didn't realize the act was over, said some really great things.

The Ronald Reagan Myth

"Reagan's only contribution [to the subject of the MX missile] throughout the entire hour and a half was to interrupt somewhere at midpoint to tell us he'd watched a movie the night before, and he gave us the plot from WarGames, the movie. That was his only contribution." Lee Hamilton (Representative from Indiana) interviewed by Haynes Johnson, Sleepwalking Through History: America in the Reagan Years

"Poor dear, there's nothing between his ears."
British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

"A faceless mass, waiting for handouts."
Ronald Reagan, 1965. (Reagan describing Medicaid recipients.)

"A tree's a tree. How many more do you need to look at?"
Ronald Reagan (Governor of California), quoted in the Sacramento Bee, opposing expansion of Redwood National Park, March 3, 1966

"We have never interfered in the internal government of a country and have no intention of doing so, never have had any thought of that kind." Ronald Reagan, 1982

"I never knew anything above Cs."
President Reagan, in a moment of truthfulness, describes his academic record to Barbara Walters, November 27, 1981
