Reagan exuded optimism

Watching Obama out and about giving speeches It doesn't feel like
it was given by the President of the United States...
Feels more like it was given by a stand up comic.

All Presidents in my recent memory seemed to be proud of this country and proud to be President of it.
I don't feel that way know.

Reagan believed in this country and in the people who make it work. He encouraged people to make the most out of the freedom and rights afforded us. He wasn't promising what government would do for you, he was promising that government would stay out of the way and do the job they were intended to do. Liberals hated him. They were never affected by his heartfelt words that inspired Americans. They hated him because he was in touch with the same values our founders had. He believed in people and didn't desire to control them.

Liberals don't look out across the country and see people full of potential. They see either evil people doing well on their own or needy people who can't do anything for themselves, so they must step in and make things right. They must punish those achievers by taking from them and giving to the other half. They call it social justice. Only they can see justice in one half stealing from the other. They think people are too inept to do things on their own, so enter the liberals to do it for them. They make one law after another because they see idiots who will make lemonade out of dish soap if it has a lemon picture on the label. They think a law should be made to put holes in buckets, because one parent left a bucket sitting out and a child drowned. Now they see us all as being that careless. They don't trust parents to care for their own children or anyone else's. They outlawed people babysitting for their friends or family's children and forced people to take their children to government-approved daycare. It doesn't stop children from being hurt or killed, but as long as the intentions are good, that is all that matters. They regulate the living shit out of everything, but it doesn't stop restaurants from serving bad food or accidents from happening. Government inspectors go through the motions and fill out lots of paperwork, but nothing changes. Only thing that matters is that paperwork is in order and that makes everything okay. It creates tons of bureaucrat jobs and makes things tough for people, but not better.

There are thousands of oppressive laws on the books. John Stossel did an investigative report and showed us that nearly everyone in this country could probably be arrested for breaking some obscure law. If we ever got a dictator in office, it's a great way to get rid of enemies. Farmers have lost their farms for accidentally running over kangaroo rats, which were declared endangered. One guy was hauled off to jail for killing a rabid raccoon that was in his backyard. It's not a government for the people anymore. It's a government controlling the people through ridiculous rules and finding new ways to impose fines and put the fear in people that they are being watched. The government now is trying to micromanage everything in our lives and they are suffocating us.

Just the though of Reagan is like a breath of fresh air. I wish we had a president who believed more in people than in the power of government.

Sorry for the rant.

Actually that's what Romney said in his now famous speech about the 47%.

Hmm, Dems always talk about what they'll do for people. Why don't they just talk about how they'll keep things fair so people can do for themselves? We've all heard those incredibly stupid Obama supporters waiting for gas in the tank, Obama money, help with mortgage payments, free phones and more entitlements. Maybe they don't make up 47% of the population (at least I hope not or we really are doomed), but there are far too many idiots who want something for nothing. And they don't do a damn thing to help themselves.

And, for the record, Romney wasn't referring to people on Social Security. That is not government money. It's a special fund people were forced to contribute to with the promise they would someday benefit. And people pay for Medicare insurance. I know the left was accusing Romney of insulting the elderly and he was talking about the idiots in line for the money from Obama's stash.

Inherited some problems.

JFK wanted America to go to the moon - delevered.

My theory is that liberalism is all about emotional insecurity. People who are insecure crave uniformity and predictability. The chaos of real freedom is troubling to them because it's neither uniform nor predictable. Bad things might happen. But the truth is... that The Bad Thing is going to happen. We're mortal. No matter how rich, no matter how poor, our lives on this earth come to an end. They can't face that... so they spend all their time rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, and never noticing that for THIS moment at least, they're still alive and could be living free.

Reagan is a myth, a legend cons tell their kids when they tuck them on at night. What they fail to tell them is that Reagan would be run out of today's repub party as a Rhino

Reagan exuded senility - when he was awake.

And don't forget he doubled GDP. And Federal tax receipts.

What was Oblunder's GDP growth rate last quarter, again?

Where do you come up with this idiocy? Does someone feed it to you or is it spontaneously generated inside that empty skull of yours?

Tax revenues, adjusted for inflation, were 1.197 trillion dollars in 1980.

They were 1.174 trillion by 1984. That would not be a double, that would less revenue.

By 1988 they were 1.421 trillion. THAT is not a doubling of tax receipts.

Stop ruining this forum by posting shit on it. Please.

When's the last time you saw a conservative around here who exuded optimism??

Obama is certainly a dark cloud over America.

And I can't imagine they will ever get that stench out of the Oval Office.

Ah yes, because what? Because you think people with dark skin smell bad??

We get it, you're racist, no need to remind us every fucking day.
