It should be 'Surah', not 'Stanza'. The Quran isn't a musical score.

in fact, my dear pic------the Koran is written in poetic style and in the
mosque , the recitation thereof is done in sing song. ----but you may
be right----that the surahs should not be called stanzas (???)

According to some scholars, a lot of the OT and NT were meant to be sung as well, but they are verses, not 'stanzas'. Actually, I don't think those divisions came along until much later, the numbered verses and 'books' thing. Many of the earlier writings didn't use punctuation in many cases.

It's not really that big a deal, just thought it would be annoying to bring it up.
