Rand Paul's explanation for the Romney endorsement

Downloading the interview now.

I liked this comment from "Jo Bailey":
I am a registered Republican living in a swing state and a devoted Ron Paul supporter.. I was going to do a write-in for Ron Paul. As a result of this endorsement, I have decided to vote for Obama instead. With Obama, we are guaranteed only 4 more years before we get another shot at a liberty minded President. If Romney wins, it will be at least 8 years before we get anopther try because he will be the automatic nominee in 2016. Anybody but Romney is our best long term strategy
EDIT: Rand Paul said he had planned on endorsing the eventual nominee anyway. Said that "Mitt wasn't so bad just look at his mother, she was against the Vietnam war". What's that got to do with anything NOW?

Ron Paul didn't "Endorse the eventual nominee anyway" in 2008. I suspect Rand is angling for something in the Mittens Administration.

Any Paul supporter can vote for whomever they want.

still doesnt tell me what Rand gave as his reasoning.

Don't whine 24/7 about Obamination then help him during the election. :cuckoo:

Anyone that thinks Romney will be worse than Obamination should be locked away for good.

Obamination with nothing to lose will go further off the deep end. Obamacare will be put on steroids adding even more people to the handouts list. The EPA and other regulators will drive gas prices to over $5/gallon to force people into walking, riding a bike, or some green car.

The military will be gutted to pay for more social welfare goodies to keep Democraps in power during the next election, maybe even Obamination's "3rd term" when he and his goons ignore the laws on the books. Treason doesn't bother him so why the hell obey the 2-term limit???

I like Rand. He has already done some great things in the Senate. Ron Paul supporters really should look at his voting record. He's one of the very few in Congress who stood up against The Patriot Act and NDAA. He fights for Freedom & Liberty. I respect him. Some are just gonna have to get over thinking they'll have the perfect Conservative Candidate. We live in an imperfect world. Sometimes you have to be happy with what you do have. And i'm very happy Ron & Rand Paul are serving in our Congress.

I agree with you there.

Yeah unfortunately for some, it's all or nothing. Rand's a good man. He is fighting the good fight in the Senate. Just look at his voting record and Legislation he has sponsored. He really was one of the very few who stood up and fought the NDAA. I really respect the guy. But some just want the perfect Conservative Candidate. It's either the perfect Conservative, or they're out. Rand sounded very reasonable and realistic in this interview. Ron Paul supporters should hear what he has to say. It can't always be all or nothing.

We cant elect perfect people. Otherwise we would have no government.

We need to be focusing on fixing the people anyway. If we fix the people, our government will be fixed because they will elect people who represent them.

So really at the end of the day Rand does not even believe in the shit he shovels and just wants a spot at the table. If his ideas were actually to try and change a party to his ideals the republicans make no sense. The dems have always shown more openness to change and manipulation than the republican party ever has. If your purpose is to attempt to manipulate a party to your third party ideals you certainly are not going to chose the party that would drive off a cliff rather than admit to another point of view.

It also shows that the supposed heroes of the libertarian movement have absolutely no faith in the movement they defend so much. Ron won't run on their platform, and Rand wants to just have some influence in the republican party and seems to have tried to use the libertarians to force their hand. Real libertarians want something that neither Ron or Rand are interested in, and that is real liberty.

You're ranting. You make no sense. Look at Ron & Rand Paul's voting records in Congress. They are and have been fighting for Freedom & Liberty for a long time. Also take a look at their recent sponsored Legislation. Your assessment is very flawed. And i suspect your motives aren't sincere. I get the feeling you're just a Socialist/Progressive Democrat opining on something you know nothing about. Just my feeling anyway. Your assessment is inaccurate.

To be fair Ron Paul didn't endorse McCain in 2008. But I get the gist of what yer sayin'.

As a conservative, for the first time in my adult life, I hope the Republican presidential candidate wins, Romney over Obama. So, I approve of Rand Paul's endorsement.

Both Ron & Rand Paul fought very hard against The Patriot Act & NDAA. For that alone, i have nothing but the utmost respect for them. Romney a perfect Conservative? Nope. But what other options are there? It's a Two-Party System. I think Rand Paul is just being realistic.
