Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) blocked an effort Tuesday to quickly pass a bipartisan bill imposing tough sanctions on Iran, demanding that Congress make clear that the United States is not rushing into another war.

"Our young men and women, our soldiers, deserve thoughtful debate," Paul, the tea party freshman with libertarian leanings, said on the floor. "Before sending our young men and women into combat, we should have a mature and thoughtful debate over the ramifications of war, over the advisability of war and over the objectives of war."

Paul wants Senate Democrats to allow a vote on his amendment that says that nothing in the measure "shall be construed as a declaration of war or an authorization of use of force against Iran or Syria."

The real question is if Harry Reid is right and there's nothing in the bill about war why not just allow a vote on Paul's amendment?

You're asking members of congress to hold themselves accountable for their crap.

It's like asking a pig to take a bath.

Rand Paul is even more stupid than his father.

Only way he could block it is if he wasn't bipartisan at all, it would require 41 votes to stop it.

Look I don't like Paul's positions on most anything. BUT it is a valid question, if the bill does not somehow authorize war why can't an amendment be attached or voted on that clearly states THIS bill does not authorize war?

Like his father, he makes sense some of the time and then soon says something BScrazy like we should be helping oil companies and cheering on their obscene profits while he helped the Senate reject attempts to end oil subsidies.

Rand Paul opposes subsidies. Tax breaks, however, are not subsidies.

Well their is such a thing as Harry Evil. Harry Reid is total evil. He won't say it because he can't but his actions in front of normal people. Not sick people who think they are special, like Harry Reid, thinks he is, is looked on with envy in the world of people he seeks to destroy.

As a Christian, I'm told to pray for people like HR. I find that cold but yet en ~lighting.

The Dems are the worst, but the neo-cons are nothing different.

Let all those who hate mankind while saying they love it, burn in hell.

Its not a game, but isn't it. Truth is only one thing...not everything like the bag of bones HR wants to pass.

May HR get his wish, let him feel the human race being shot out of his butthole. LET HIM FEEL HIS FOLLY! of self.

BLAH BLAH BLAH, who cares.

HR is total evil, look at him and digest his words.

CONDEMNED! but not by me.

Stupid people do stupid things, but not by me...I have no say in this, just a comment.

Good for Senator Paul. Someone has to put the brakes on this rush to war with Iran.

He does not however oppose some federal pork for Bridge building accross the Ohio River...
