In an opinion piece for Bloomberg, the consumer advocate calls the potential GOP presidential hopefuls a "field of Republican weaklings" and warns that conservative governors are turning off swing voters with their hardline stands against unions.

Ralph Nader predicts a second term for Barack Obama | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times

I am no fan of Ralph Nader, but in one week, both Haley Barbour and now Nader say Obama cannot be beaten by the GOP or any third party candidate.

I've been saying this for months. The ONLY possible threat to Obama is Hillary Clinton.... And good soldier that she is, she will wait until 2016 to go after the Big Chair. And very likely, win it then.

Nothing in the GOP field or any others have any traction with independents, is the problem.

So, do you think some of the more "center right" Republicans are sitting out on purpose and waiting for 2016? I have heard good things out of John Thune, while not hearing any of the birther/Muslim/Socialist BS. Yet, he chose not to run? Has the GOP thrown in the towel already?

I have no idea or even the first clue what a repug will be doing. I have a pretty good idea of Indys, however.

Whistling past the graveyard, huh?

Obama is not popular and we are plunging into sever recession. He flippantly tells those concerned with rising fuel costs that they should consider a trade in - which is what they will do.
If Indys aren't presented with a VERY attractive choice vs. Obama, they WILL vote again for Obama. Me included.

I would think Independent voters would vote for a potato over Obama at this point.

Why? Indys aren't partisan and what we want most of all is a divided government. And with the GOP firmly in control of the House, and probably going to either make inroads in the Senate or take it over completely, we want a Democrat President to keep them in check, above all else.

Just goes to show how little you know about Independent voters, and politics in general...

In most cases I agree but Obama isnt personable like Bill Clinton or George W. Bush was. I just dont think people like him much and they don't see him as much of a leader. If the economy doesnt improve drastically by mid 2012 he is gone.

Obama is quite personable, every poll shows it. People like him personally, but there's a little less like when it comes to policies.

This is why the GOP swept the House last time, voters put a check on the Dem leadership.

The forces behind Obama will make sure the economy is great by the 2012 election.

Then when Obama wins the election.

We will be able to further his socialist agenda unfettered..

I doubt there is anything in the universe that would sway you from voting for Dear Leader, but that is irrelevant to the fact that Obama has a 50% DISAPPROVAL rating even before the recession gets really rolling. Further, looks like the worst president in history is going to get a Cateresq "stagflation" going as his idiotic fuel policy drives inflation during a recession.

Yes but if the corporate media tells us to vote for him, we will.

That is how we got him this time.

I think Obama is personable and people like him overall. However I do agree 100% he isn't seen as a strong leader. That's a very important to be missing too. I think it's why GWB beat Kerry in 04.
